On April 24, about 35 LMYC members participated in Lake Mohawk Yacht Club’s Spring cleanup, headed by Rear Commodore Karl Hauck. Marie and Rich Cramer started the event off by providing coffee and donuts. John Trela provided excellent electrical work by climbing a 12-foot ladder and replacing the connection plugs on the Snipe and Lightning hoists with waterproof ones. Teams of members moved the club’s Sunfish from their winter storage under the Buoy Room to the Sunfish docks. Perry Anderson lead a team to launch a boat dock from winter storage to its summer location. Many members raked leaves and generally cleaned up.

The event was topped with burgers, hot dogs, salad, etc. provided by Susan and Karl Hauck and cooked up by Bill Beveridge. As an added highlight, Alex Fox provided guitar music. Commodore Gail Miner thanks everyone who participated and made the event a great success. The members not only cleaned up the club, they had fun doing it.

The following week, on May 2, we had a Lightning mast raising party. Skippers Rich Miner, Joe Fleming, Perry Anderson and Donald Okner, assisted by various crew members, readied their boats for the 2021 racing season. After the hit that our schedule took from COVID-19 in 2020 our appetites are whetted for some spirited competition. Be sure to check our website for the racing schedule and for race official assignments.
