February 2013 Papoose Article

Post date: Feb 9, 2013 11:03:22 PM

Our boats are wrapped up for the Winter, they are covered with snow and we will not be racing until May. So now is the time to catch up on your racing rules, tuning techniques and strategic skills. And, if you are up for a challenge, here's a short quiz about the Lake Mohawk Yacht Club (LMYC) that you can take. Answers will be posted in next month's Papoose (no prizes will be awarded).

1. Which Lake Mohawk developer had a relative who was a founding member of the LMYC?

2. Which sailboat fleet was the first one in the LMYC?

3. Who were know as the Yachettes?

4. In what year did Charles Gabor win the Snipe Class World Championship?

5. Who designed the Lignthing class sailboat?

6. Describe the LMYC burgee?

7. In what year was the LMYC incorporated?

8. What was the original, divisional fleet number assigned to our Snipe Fleet by the SCIRA?

9. What is the present fleet number assigned to our Snipe Fleet by the SCIRA?

10. What is the fleet number assigned to our Lightning Fleet by the ILCA?

As you plan for Summer, 2013, why not start things off by joining our club so you can sail and socialize with us. You can visit us on the web at www.lakemohawksailing.org. For more information about membership in the LMYC or, if you want to learn to sail, just call our Vice Commodore, Perry Anderson at (973)729-3904, email us at lakemohawksailing@gmail.com or write to us care of PO Box 29, Sparta, NJ 07871.

Until next month, smooth sailing

and God bless America!
