The last competition for 2015 took place on Oct. 11 with Richard Miner and Peter Breiling match racing their Lightnings and swapping for first and second place in two races. The Lightning Fall series ended with Perry Anderson undefeated and in first place, Richard Miner a close second place, Peter Breiling third and Joe Fleming fourth. In the combined results for 2015 Richard Miner successfully defended his position as Lightning Fleet Champion with Perry Anderson as runner-up. John Marx retained the Snipe Fleet Championship and Constance Gill came in second.
On Oct. 24, Richard and Gail Miner once again graciously hosted our Annual Meeting and Finish Line Party. It was a great social event and some business was also conducted. Our board members for 2016 were elected and are: Richard Miner, Commodore; Gail Miner, Vice Commodore; John Marx, Rear Commodore; Perry Anderson, Treasurer; Cathy Chute, Secretary; Joe Fleming, Lightning Fleet Captain; Constance Gill, Snipe Fleet Captain.
Our final social event for the year, the Awards Party was held on Nov. 15. More about that in next month's Papoose article. Also, on a more somber note, we bid farewell to longtime club member and Lightning sailor, Bill Beveridge, who died on October 17, 2015 at the age of 93. Bill and his late wife Nancy, who predeceased him in 2012, will be remembered and missed.
