We completed our competition for 2013 with two Lightning races on Oct. 13 in which Rich Miner took two first over Chuck Chute and one Lightning race on Oct. 20 with Rich Miner taking another first followed by Chuck Chute in second place and Hank Jelinek third. On Oct. 26, Cathy and Chuck Chute hosted our Finish Line Party and Annual Meeting at which time our slate of officers for 2013 were elected. They are:

Commodore: Chuck Chute

Vice Commodore; Perry Anderson

Rear Commodore: Hank Jelinek

Treasurer: Gail Miner

Secretary: Cathy Chute

Fleet Captains:

Lightning: Rich Miner

Snipe: John Marx

Laser/Sunfish: John Miller

Our 2013 racing for the Snipe fleet, which sails a combined series, was won by John Marx in first place with Constance Gill second and Tim Mackey third. The photo with this article shows Howard Gooblar doing some great sailing, single-handing his Snipe.

In the Lightning Class, in the Spring Series: Rich Miner came in first with Perry Anderson and Chuck Chute third. The Fall Series ended with Rich Miner first, Chuck Chute second and Hank Jelinek third. Our Lightning Fleet Champion is Rich Miner, the Runner-Up is Perry Anderson and the Second Runner-Up is Chuck Chute.

We offer adult and individual sailing lessons for those who are interested. And, if you are looking for great gifts for a sailor or for yourself, you can order shirts and gear with our logo through the club. Also, to help raise funds for the Junior Sailing Program, Haley Chute had bags made from sails. They are available at Cathy Chute's Lake Mohawk Flower Shop in the plaza.

You can visit us on the web at www.lakemohawksailing.org. For more information about membership in the LMYC or, if you want to learn to sail, just call our Vice Commodore, Perry Anderson at (973)729-3904, email us at lakemohawksailing@gmail.com or write to us care of PO Box 29, Sparta, NJ 07871.

Until next month, smooth sailing and God bless America,
