Attention on deck! The SS-LMYC is about to set sail for the 2010 season. So it’s time to get on board and to prepare for some fun. But first, we do have some work to do. On April 17^th we will have a Clean-up day. This is very important because there is always much to do in order to prepare our facilities—especially after the cold and snow that we experienced this winter. All LMYC members are asked to please save this date and plan to help. We start at 9:00 am sharp.

A week after the work is done, we will hold our Prep Signal Party on April 24^th at the Lake Mohawk Country Club at 6:30 pm. This is our first, official social event before racing begins and is always a great time for all. Plan to be there and bring a dish to share. And if you are not already a member of our club, you can join now so that you will be a member in time for this event. You can meet many of our members and have some fun at the same time.

Racing will begin on May 16^th and continue until mid-October, with two races scheduled every Sunday. As usual, we are planning a Spring Series and a Fall Series. Sippers and crew normally gather at 12:00 noon and the first gun (we actually use a horn) is at 1:00 pm. There will also be open regattas on the Sundays closest to Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day.

The first open regatta will be the Gabor Cup on May 30^th. Regattas are open to all LMCC members with sailboats of any kind. They provide a great opportunity get a feel for what it’s like to race your boat, compete for a prize and socialize after racing. Plan to join us—we promise that you will have a great time.

Registration for our Junior Sailing Program begins on April 15^th for LMYC members and on May 3rd for non-members. Space is limited so sign up early.
