April 2021 Papoose Article

The LMYC kicked off 2021 with its first, virtual social event of the year, the Winter Games Night hosted on Zoom by John & Shirley Miller on Feb. 27. The Millers always come up with fun and challenging activities to tickle our brains and our funny bones. The hit of the night was Who Wants to be a Millionaire with unusual, increasingly difficult questions drawn from a random deck. We broke into 2 teams and, amazingly, the Guys got nearly every answer right and ended up with a virtual fortune. The Gals need to bone up on their sports stats for next time. How many of us know Babe Ruth’s real first name?

We look forward to sailing this year and plan to offer our ever popular Jr. Sailing Program. Details will be posted on our website. We are hopeful that the Governor will revise his Covid restrictions to allow healthy outdoor activities for all of us, especially the kids, this summer. Private lessons can also be easily arranged through Perry Anderson.

Sincere thanks go to our talented and diligent webmaster, Ian Oldridge, for staying on top of changes to our site and for working with the LMCC to get the connecting link back on. Ian makes sure we have the latest news and photos (lots! of photos) posted. Thanks also go to Commodore Gail Miner for her assistance with this article.

And – finally – here is our first Yachting Trivia question of the season: What is the name of the object at the other end of the starting line from the Committee Boat?
