David Johnson died at the age of 86 and had lived in New Lebanon and the vicinity most of his life. He farmed for a living. David was the father of Aja and Harry Johnson, owners of the Johnson Chevrolet Co. in Eaton. He had lived with his son, Harry, in Eaton for several years and was well known in the community. David had been failing in health toward the past year of his life and toward the end had been critically ill. He died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Zelma Bowser, in New Lebanon on Sunday morning, October 10, 1943.
David was a member of the United Brethren Church at Liberty, Ohio and had been a member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge of New Lebanon.
He was survived by his four daughters, Mrs. Zelma Bowser and Mrs. Bessie Shank of New Lebanon, Mrs. Dora Gearhart of Johnsville, Mrs. Ruth Gisewite of Farmersville; three sons, Aja of New Lebanon, Harry E. of Eaton, and Alonzo of Dayton; one brother, William of Berea, Kentucky and a sister, Mrs. Alice Kirkland of Lewisburg.
The funeral services were held at the New Lebanon Church on a Wednesday afternoon and he was interred in the Sugar Grove Cemetery in Lexington, Ohio.
David was buried on 13 Oct 1943 at Sugar Grove Cemetery in West Alexandria, Preble, Ohio, United States.
