Dabney Ellis
Among the first to settle in Dover township of Bureau County. The whole county being an almost unbroken wilderness, which abounded with wild animals of various kinds and the Indians were far more numerous than white settlers.
The Methodist Episcopal Church of Dover was founded in his house.
Dabney was a witness at the Virginia marriage of Polly Ellis 6/28/1829

She was born in the same house that her father was born in. In October 1880 they moved to Grundy County, Iowa then returned to Princeton, IL. in 1889. She helped raise two granddaughters after both her husband and son-in-law died a month apart in 1924 forcing her daughter into the workforce.

Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Ellis, born Dover Township Jan 9 1883. She died Nov. 20 1917 aged 34 years, 10 months and 20 days. Member of English Lutheran Church. She died after an illness of three weeks. She returned home from a visit with her brother Fred of Montana and immediately took ill with the diphtheria which caused her untimely death. Amy had a quiet disposition and never murmured during her illness.
Sister Mrs. Theodore Skinner, brothers Albert of Dover, Fred of Hamilton, Montana and 3 brothers died in infancy.
She is buried in Dover Cemetery
