Heads Up Tackling--The Hit Position Drill
OBJECTIVE
This drill is designed to teach the player the third step in heads up tackling--the Hit Position
POINTS OF EMPHASIS
• Players learn to move using short, quick heel to toe choppy steps in positioning themselves to make a tackle.
Players maintain a low stable base in their approach.

This drill can use a flat dummy or use cones instead of a dummy. Players will proceed from the Breakdown position, through the Feet drill
and when they arrive at the hit spot (defined by cones), take up the proper hit position—head up, hands up, shoulders back, short power step.
