Group Drill
This section identifies several dynamic warmup exercises for players to do st the start of practice.
POINTS OF EMPHASIS
Coaches can choose several of the warmup drills shown to add variety to the practice plan.
SETUP
CADENCE REACTION DRILLS
In addition to the listed warm-up drills, coaches should include reaction drills for offensive and defensive linemen for a short time in every practice warmup. To execute these drills have players line up in several rows in a three-point stance. For the offensive drill, the coach indicates the snap count for the drill then calls the cadence. On the indicated snap count, players will fire out of their stance and take three short steps. Vary the snap count so that players cannot anticipate the count.
For the defensive version of this drill have players line up in again in several rows in a three-point stance. Players must ignore the coach's cadence and only fire out from their stance when the coach simulates the center snap. by moving the football. Defensive players learn to watch the football and fire out only when the ball moves.
Coaches can vary these cadence drills by having the players execute seat rolls moving in the direction of ball movement by the coach.
