This is how we (the IISc Randonneurs) interpret and apply Article 7 of the Rules and Regulations.
If you are planning to use a "support" car (interpreted to be any vehicle), you must follow these rules on pain of disqualification from all brevets in India, and possibly elsewhere.
Each rider must be self sufficient. No follow cars or support of any kind are permitted on the course.
Brevets are a test of self-sufficiency and endurance. Support cars go against this idea. Therefore, you cannot have a car following you or ahead of you on the course.
Personal support is only allowed at checkpoints and only with prior clearance with the organizers. Any violation of this requirement will result in immediate disqualification.
This is how you receive support -- your support vehicle goes ahead on a different route, whenever possible -- and waits for you at a brevet checkpoint. You cannot summon the vehicle to your position. Doing so will result in immediate disqualification.
At the brevet checkpoint, your supporters cannot act on your behalf. For example, you must get your brevet card stamped yourself (or if this is an unmanned checkpoint, you must get the receipt yourself) .
Prior clearance with the organizers requires the following conditions to be met:
If you do not follow these steps, we will not allow you to ride.
Please note: we wish to ensure a fair experience for everybody. Any violations of these rules will be taken very seriously and result in disqualification.
