ir0007 - Savandurga 100

About:

Savandurga is a large monolith to the south-west of Bangalore city. Surrounded by Savandurga forest, this is an ideal route for the monsoon season. We start out on Magadi Road, an uncharacteristically green and quiet state highway, before venturing onto quiet village roads. En route, we visit T G Halli Reservoir, Manchanbele dam, the Indian DSN at Byalalu, and Dodda Alada Mara (Big Banyan Tree) to make for an eventful 100km.

Route:

Surface: Roads are in good to excellent shape for most of the route. One section of about 5km has a small road in fair condition. Most roads are two-laned, except for a very low traffic 8km section which is one laned. The beginning of the route on Pipeline road is dugup and maybe difficult to navigate, but is rideable.

Traffic: Roads have very low traffic, however SH-85/Magadi Road on the return has light to medium traffic and the Mahalakshmipuram Layout road on the return has medium to heavy traffic.

Terrain: Here is the elevation profile generated from the GPX by utrack.crempa.net for the route, there is about 1000m of climbing, with some very steep climbs (6%) and descents.
