Oct 2013 Hessaraghatta 55

The Ride

Hesaraghatta is

a man-made lake in the North-West of Bangalore and one of its greenest spots. After a long dry spell the rains this year have filled the lake again, and we celebrate with a populaire that loops around the lake. This 55km route will take you through some quiet rural roads, past agricultural and dairy R&D centres and fruit orchards. Like a brevet, this populaire is a completely self-supported ride to be completed in a fixed time. A populaire is usually of a distance less than 200K. Note that brevets and populaires are not competitive rides.Ride Summary

Route

Surface: Roads are in good to excellent shape for most of the route. One section of about 1km has a wide sandy dirt road. A 7km section has roads in fair shape, with a very poor stretch for 10metre. Roads are split about 75:25 between narrow and two-laned.

Traffic: Roads have very low traffic, even on SH-39 to Hesaraghatta. However, you may find the occasional heavy vehicle (BMTC buses) on the route. Some roads (about 5km) in the end have medium to heavy traffic.

Terrain: Here is the elevation profile generated from the GPX by utrack.crempa.net for the route:

For a GPX you can analyze, see this attachments.

Please note map and GPX are provided for convenience only. The cue-sheet is the only official route guide.
