ir0013 - The Waterfalls 300

About:

This is an extended version of the Bangalore's popular Anchetty 200, the brevet with highest elevation gain in its distance category.

The riders start from Silkboard, reach Kanakpura road from where they track Anchetty route through Harohalli, Thally and Jawalagiri. From Anchetty, riders descend to the Hogenakkal. On the way, they track river Cauvery closely for around 6 kms.

From Hogenakkal, riders climb to Pennagaram from where they reach Krishnagiri. From Krishnagiri, they take the popular, fast ascending highway, back to Silk board, Bangalore.

First 220 kms of the route is silent, contains serene scenaries, and some climbs for fun. Oh, yeah, there are some dangerous descents too, to tackle.

Surface:

First 220 kms of the route is mostly double laned / single laned. Most of the parts are well paved. Overall, the route is roadbikable.

In Maralwady to Thally, and Jawalagiri to Anchetty sections and near Hogenakkal, there are some sharp descents which contains sudden switchbacks visible only when approached near. They don't have barriers. Though good, the roads feel slightly bumpy, especially on high speed. The riders should exercise caution on them.

Traffic:

Expect heavy traffic on NH 209 till Kanakpura. Expect heavy traffic even at night on the highway NH 7.

Traffic will be very low / sparse in other sections of the route..
