We started off before the dinner with a group photograph of all 66 Hardy Rocks who were present. Our photographer David Inglis, showed a great deal of patience in herding all 66 of us into position. Thanks to Bryan Fritz for setting this up.
We had a great closing dinner with 86 people including 10 alumni. (Moe Lafoley, Bill Sansom, Jack Bannon, Ian Peck, Jim Markham, Mike Sheppard, Gerry Foliot, Art Woods, Peter Falardeau and Peter Atwood). Neil Tomiuk gave us his final financial status for the club after 8 years as treasurer and he was thanked for his service. Barry Gleason will be taking over next year.
Special thanks to Allan jones, Clifford Dalphy, Peter Atwood and Bryan Fritz for all they do.
Steve Shaw and Joan Bazar filled us in on the state of the Hardy Rock draws and Doubles competitions.
Gilles Leblanc in formed us that we improved to 7th place in the interclub competition and that all the participants were quite happy with how it went this year in spite of the "BRIDGE" As usual Yves Gauthier was helping out with the service and Reverend Moe Lafoley remarked on the passing of Bill Daoust and reminded us to think of our comrades Jim Tisdale and Don Staniforth in their time of need.
A great meal of pork schnitzel with all the trimmings followed by blueberry pudding was put on by Stuart Lebaron.
This was followed by our trophy presentations.
Please note that our 2024 Fall Doubles Winners, Gary White and Derek Halbert were both absent for the trophy presentation.
If you look at the teams that won after Christmas you will notice that one person was on two of the winning teams and one second place team and although she was there for the photograph she missed the presentations. On top of that, she only started to curl with us after Christmas !!! Congratulations Jocelyne Ranger.
The committee decided that we should honour one of our well loved members by continuing the presentation of the Best Sweeper award that was initiated by Bob Hart. His partner Joanne Lacombe, was kind enough to agree to make the presentation. The best sweeper was chosen by last year's winner John Coutts.
Have a great summer !!
We had the condenser repaired and pressure tested and it is good. The expansion valve after the chiller has been replaced with an electronic valve and it is working. Because we had the time to do the compressor overhaul it has been done. I have attached some pictures of the work. One of the bearings in the compressor was badly worn and ready to go, so it was a good thing we did the overhaul. (see the picture)
