Barbara Lester (died 2019) was an expert on Theodor Fontane and an active member of the British and Irish Section of the Theodor Fontane Society.
She did her PhD with Professor Martin Swales at University College London. For many years she worked as a Teaching Fellow in German at University College London. She lived in London.
She was married to Albert Lester (1927-2024), a German Jew from Buchen who escaped to England with the Kindertransport in 1939. He became an engineer.
