The Future

Part of the Terrestrial Geologic Timescale

Phanerozoic Eon - The Future - No Successor

Cenozoic Era - The Future - No Successor

Quaternary Period - The Future - No Successor

Anthropocene Epoch - The Future - No Successor

The Geologic Data Scale is configured in a way that it can extend back infinitely into the past, before the very creation of (this?) universe. However, one thing that will not be found on our primary timescale is the time that exists beyond the present day. Beyond obviously stating that is hasn't happened yet, we really do not know what the future holds.

Many different theories are out there - the Heat Death of the Universe, another Big Bounce or several religious beliefs such as the Christian faith in the return of Jesus Christ in the Book of Revelation - and each would call for an immensely different timescale.

However, even then, the future is unclear. The GDS recognizes the validity of the Anthropocene Epoch because it is very clear than humanity has changed the face of the world like no other species has ever even come close to, and it has led to great rates of extinction among other species. But who is to know whether movements to Go Green will help or if a nuclear war is in the future?

For this very reason, the Future is not subdivided on our timescale whatsoever but remains a clearly important part of the world's story.
