Part of the Chaotian Era
Hyperitian Period - Titanomachean Period - Hephaestean Period
The Titanomachean Period is the second period of the Chaotian Era and of the Hadean Eon. The Titanomachean begins with a newly sparked period of planet-building collisions and ends with the Earth-forming collision between Theia and the proto-earth Tellus that also created the Moon. Both Tellus and Theia had grown significantly during the Titanomachean, disrupting their relatively stable orbit in which Theia was stuck in Tellus's Langrangian Point 4 (L4). To be in an L4 is to form a point of an equilateral triangle at all times, the other two points being the object the L4 point belongs to and the object both orbit, in this case Tellus and the sun respectively). As Theia grew too large, it was unable to remain at the L4 point, and consequentially collided with Tellus to form the Earth and Moon. L4 point systems are currently found with some moons of Saturn, and both known cases also have another satellite in their L5 point. The earth's molten crust solidified around 4490 MYA.
The Titanomachean is not further subdivided into epochs.
