Activity Report 1996 (synthesis)

Transilvanian Bussiness Center continued its sustainable development in 1996, realizing constantly its purposes and functions contained in the Functioning Statutes.

CAT members’ number has increased from 295 in1995, to 470 in 1996. Eight branches have been opened in different towns of Transilvania. There are taken the necessary steps for establishing new CATs in other towns from the area.

The Actions Program and the Budget for 1996, approved by the General Assambly on the 18th of March 1996 were accomplised, even though the non-reinbursable foreign assistance was extremly reduced. 900 000 USD have been required for the financing of 15 priority local development projects but only 53 000 USD were received from CIPE-Washington.

94 actions were realized internally and internationally, in which 470 partener companies were involved. Their value is over 1 020 millins lei in the successful colaboration with the participant companies. Through the economical missions in USA, Japan, Hong-Kong, Thailand, South Africa, Denmark, France, Belgium and the preparation courses NCW-Holland, Nordborg-Danemark other 443 800 USD were mobilized.

The actions realized, their value and the persons responsible for this success are presented in the annex of the Raport.

This document is let to the CAT members’, observators’ and guests’ dispozition, to the headquarters and at the General Assambly ( Cluj-Napoca, 25th of February 1997) for analysis, debates and aproval.

After the presentation of the Financial Raport and Balance Sheet, on the 31st of December 1996 the next values result :

A. Incomes:

- From economical activities: 28,65 millions lei

- Personal: 396,10 millions lei

- Grant CIPE: 108,10 millions lei

- CAT Branches: 344,81 millions

TOTAL: 877,66 millions lei

B. Expenses:

- economical activities: 17,96 millions lei

- personal activities and equipement: 402,16 millions lei

- CAT sub-companies: 329,03 millions lei

TOTAL: 749,15 millions lei

C. A sum of 128,51 millions lei was not achieved, as a result of uncashing monthly subscriptions. It follows that this amount of money to be regained during the first trimester of 1997.

The results obtained, representing an increase of the activity with 72,8% than the previous year, are the fruit of the passionate work of the CAT employes, the Branch managers and our member companies.

We want to thank all the CAT members, the donors from USA, Holland and Denmark, the management and the departments’ staff for the efforts made. Due to them our association is considered one of the most important non-profit, nongovernmental, nonpolitical and independent organizations from our country, internationally recognized.
