In this task you will learn how to
1. Initiate a project kickoff
2. Monitor project progress at a high-level using Earned Value Management System
The 'Well?' scenario has three parts:
* Part 1
o Individual work
* Part 2
o Individual work
* Part 3
o Individual work
o Group work (Note that you are reflecting on the entire scenario, not just Part 3.)
You have INDIVIDUAL work in Part 1:
* Read the e-mail and click on the link below it to work on your Individual Action Plan and Communications Form. You will get a page with an MS Word document. You are to save it locally. If you want the full features of Word, it is best to re-open it within MS Word than to work out of the browser.
* Describe your analysis of the situation and what actions that you would take if this were a “real world” situation. Since this is a simulation, craft your communications via e-mail correspondence within the template.
* When you are ready, upload your Individual Action Plan and Communications Form to the the Task 3 subfolder that bears your name. Note that the document name already indicates the scenario and stage you have completed.
You have INDIVIDUAL work in Parts 2 and 3:
* Repeat the process you used for Part 1. It is best to take the parts one at a time and document how you are analyzing and handling each bit of information (since that is how it is when managing – lots of information coming at you, expecting your analysis and response).
* Have fun doing this. It is best to really look at the situation and take it in context of the planning that you performed in the previous tasks – this is the execution or enactment part of managing a project. Now is the time to make all your planning pay off.
You have GROUP work in Part 3.
* Download the Group Thoughts and Reflections Form from the zip file.
* You will fill this out as a team, using a process that works for your group. It is important for each of you finish your individual work before the group work, otherwise it will be slow and difficult.
* The group response is a culmination of your individual responses. The team will receive feedback on the team responses and not on the individual response. It is to be “the best of the best”. The first scenario is pretty straightforward to give you a chance to get your team process worked out. Good discussion will result during your team meetings and this is encouraged.
* When you are ready, upload your Group Thoughts and Reflections Form to the Task 3 subfolder you have designated for groupwork (Deliverable Folder). Note that the document name indicates the scenario you have completed.
