Timeline in the Development of Dr. Leland Jensen's Teachings and Community
My purpose is to BOMBARD you & your EDUCATOR with a dose of your own Medicine. Pepe
This letter is copied to Brent Mathieu by Pepe Remey as well. With the following instructions given to Brent Mathieu:
Abdu'l-Baha, Son of Baha'u'llah, early leader of the Baha'i Community
We must go by the facts. We must still vote our own conscience. We must get enough facts to be reasonably sure when we make a decision. Each one needs to bring in writings and facts to back up their arguments or beliefs. This doesn't mean they should shut their ears to facts and writings brought in by other members. Just that each one has to contribute writings and/or facts to the general pool. Then it will be like a jigsaw puzzle where, when all the pieces are put together, its a beautiful mosaic.

The participants in the consultation included Lady (Sara Louisa) Blomfield, Emogene Hoagg, Ethel Rosenberg, Roy Wilhelm, Mountfort Mills, Mason Remey, Laura and Hippolyte Dreyfus-Barney, Consul and Alice Schwarz, and Wellesley Tudor Pole.
In Mason's diary entries he does not say he was part of the consultation but heard, probably in discussion with Shoghi, about what the consultations were about. Here Ruhiyyih seems to say something else. It's important to remember Ruhiyyih doesn't even enter the picture until 1937. Although there is an extensive correspondence between Mason and May Maxwell.

Mason Remey's Adoption of Joseph Pepe Remey May 9, 1964
In 1962 Remey gave Marangella a sealed envelope, with instructions to open it when the time was right. In 1965 Mason Remey called for the International Bahá'í Council, of which Marangella was president, to become active. Marangella then opened the sealed letter, which was a hand-written note by Remey appointing Marangella as his successor. Marangella looks upon that time as the time of his official appointment. Remey then changed his mind, deactivated the International Bahá'í Council in 1966, and in 1969 Marangella announced that he was the third Guardian. All of the members of the 1966 NSAUHG accepted Marangella's claim. Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orthodox_Bahá'í_Faith
On May 23, 1967, Remey appointed Donald A. Harvey of France to be his successor. Remey hand wrote the appointment:
In the Most Holy Name of El Baha, I, the second Guardian of the Baha’I Faith, hereby appoint Donald Harvey at my death to be my successor the third Guardian of the Faith. (Signed) Mason Remey, May 23rd 1967, Florence Italy
May the Spirit of El Abha ever protect this line of spiritual descent from ‘Abdu’l Baha, the Center of the Covenant of El Baha
In a letter addressed to Mrs. Timmerman dated August 18th, 1967 Mason Remey writes in a letter addressed to Mrs. Timmerman dated August 18th, 1967, Mason wrote, “The reason that I announced Donald Harvey to be my successor was to discourage those who were hoping to become Guardian of the Faith and who were intent on building themselves up to fill this position.” [I have not seen the primary souce material on this claim] The followers of the Harvey line of Guardians claim that this further validates their position, see http://www.guardianshipofthebahaifaith.org/ridvan/ridvan%20augustl%202007%20wpw2.pdf Basically, if you believe in only a spiritual connection then such an appointment may very well be valid, but if you are a follower of the line that the Aghsan must be a formal relationship one of true father/son relationship then such an appointment is not valid, which is where the BUPC have their allegiance. Pepe Remey later repudiated the Guardianship of Donald Harvey and appointed 3 sub-Guardians with the explicit purpose of re-habilitating Mason's reputation with the World Baha'is, and released directives in the role of Guardian. Many BUPC adherents see this letter as proof that on the one hand that Joel Marangella's Guardianship is not valid because Mason appointed Harvey at a later date before he died. On the other hand they see it as proof that the appointment of Harvey was a decoy to protect Joseph Pepe Remey and prevent others intent on claiming the Guardianship for themselves.

Mason Remey, establishes new faith as alternative to Baha'i Faith, his faith is called, "Abhai Faith", this is later rejected by Dr. Leland Jensen who does not find out about it until much later [it should be pointed out that Mason was legally obligated not to use the Name 'Baha'i Faith' hence his creation of a new group and a unique name]. Mason Remey places Guardian medallion around Pepe Remey's neck weeks before he dies, 1974 see http://sites.google.com/site/causeofgod/home/pepe-letter/letter-joseph-pepe-to-doc-july-24-1975
Mason Remey 2nd Guardian passes away February 1974
After Mason passes away Dr. Jensen initially teaches that Donald Harvey is the Guardian. Dr. Jensen writes to Donald Harvey proclaiming his mission which is rejected by Donald Harvey. Dr. Jensen has a realization about Pepe Remey being the Guardian instead of Donald Harvey. Teaches students that Pepe Remey is the new Guardian, in July 1975. There are correspondences which seem to hint that Dr. Jensen was interested about the medallion as early as summer of 1974, acting through his wife Opal. In fact Opal does ask Pepe about the medallion in 1974 before Dr. Jensen writes to Donald Harvey, thus Dr. Jensen already believed that there was something more to the Guardian appointment of Donald Harvey before being rejected by Donald. Brent Mathieu has argued that Dr. Jensen turned to Pepe because of the rejection of Donald Harvey of the claims of Dr. Jensen. We can now see that this is not true. See http://sites.google.com/site/causeofgod/home/jensen-letters/letter-to-pepe-remey-july-19-1975
Joseph Pepe Remey becomes Guardian of the Cause of God according to Dr. Jensen. Mason Remey leaves with Pepe Remey "all things tangible, and intangible" in his will and testament. See http://sites.google.com/site/causeofgod/home/mason-remey-letters/will-and-testament-of-charles-mason-remey
In remarks later made to Brent Mathieu Pepe recounts the following regarding the Will and Testament:
PS to Brent: When Mason wrote his Will and Testament, he named me his SPIRITUAL and MATERIAL Heir…….I Begged him to eliminate the word SPIRITUAL, which he did.
Pepe Remey to Brent Mathieu, Excerpt, May 5th, 1992
Debate continues on whether the words intangible equates to spiritual to this day.
Dr. Leland Jensen to Pepe circa 1975
Pepe Remey remarks regarding the previous successorship of the Guardianship on July 24, 1975 :
. . . [Mason] listed three persons as his successor.....I will not tell you the sequence of the three names.....but I will tell you that my name appeared on that list along with Donald Harvey's and Joel's . . . (Joseph Pepe Remey, letter to Dr. Leland Jensen, 7/24/75, p. 1)
In order to secure the continuation of the Guardianship, he made sure there would be several possible successors. You see, Dr. Jensen, Mason was more interested in securing the successorship than of the successor himself. (Joseph Pepe Remey letter to Dr. Leland Jensen, 7/24/75, p. 1)
http://sites.google.com/site/causeofgod/home/pepe-letter/letter-joseph-pepe-to-doc-july-24-1975
July 24, 1975 Pepe Remey repudiates his own Guardianship based on the reason that he is not participating in Baha'i group activities:
I do accept Donald Harvey as Mason's successor because I, myself, have considered myself quite out of the Baha'i activities. Spiritually, I confess, I have never given up the Baha'i Faith. I practice no other religion nor have I since first accepting the Baha'i Teachings through Mason Remey. However, in dealing with Baha'is in general, I have become so very disillusioned that I have taken the advice of 'Abdu'l-Baha' who recommended that we go without religion rather than part-take in strife and dissentions, etc. You know that quotation far better then I do, I'm sure.
http://sites.google.com/site/causeofgod/home/pepe-letter/letter-joseph-pepe-to-doc-july-24-1975
He later in 1984 repudiates the Guardianship of Donald Harvey, denies ever believing Donald Harvey was guardian.
Pepe Remey writes to Brent Mathieu that Mason Remey had the great respect for Dr. Leland Jensen and knew of his claims, October 25, 1976 http://sites.google.com/site/causeofgod/home/pepe-letter/letter-pepe-remey-to-brent-mathieu-october-25-1976
The Most Mighty Document from Dr. Leland Jensen April 21, 1979 This is the first mention of the concept of Aghsan as being applied to an adopted son in Leland Jensen's teachings.
World War III Fire Drill April 29, 1980
Juliet Thompson Diary is published for first time, which in it shows Abdu'l-Baha attempting to arrange the marriage of Mason Remey whom AB refers to "you are my real son". This corroborates form a Baha'i World Faith adherent the claims of the BUPC about Mason Remey.
Major conflict erupts between Dr. Leland Jensen and the Guardian Pepe Remey. Pepe Remey objects to the criticisms of Dr. Leland Jensen and Neal Chase of the Guardianship of Mason Remey. Pepe Remey does everything he can to defend Mason Remey's reputation from such criticisms. 1989-1990 conflict never resolves itself although a temporary peace is achieved in early 1992 between the two.
Danny Scherr writes and speaks on the topic of Genealogical References in Abdu'l-Baha's Will and Testament, the begining of a change in direction in the teachings of Leland Jensen on the topic of Guardianship, Rod of Iron, Rod of Wood, Rod of Gold become dominant ideas, May 1, 1990
Pepe Remey writes to Dr. Leland Jensen, May 13, 1990:
"In reading over what you wrote on Page 20 of your letter referring to [the] Guardian of the Faith, the idea came to me that you might select one such person manifesting those qualities you deem worthy… Prepare the necessary adoption papers conforming to your requirements allowing me to adopt that person spiritually, thus passing on to him the AGHSAN lineage that you claim Mason Remey received from 'Abdu'l-Baha and I from Mason. What could be simpler?"
http://sites.google.com/site/causeofgod/home/pepe-letter/pepe-remey-to-leland-jensen-may-13-1990
This was further echoed in a later letter of July 31, 1991 to Brent Mathieu:
The problem can be solved in another way. The other possible solution would be that suggested originally by Daniel Scherr, I believe wherein he gives credible reason to consider Mason Remey the spiritually adopted son of Abdu’l-Baha, thus an Aghsan. There is available enough acceptable material to present that case – on a spiritual, not legal – basis. As Mason Remey’s legally adopted son and heir , I, too, would have inherited the title of Aghsan and, consequently, the Guardianship. If the Baha’is WANT a guardian, I would then adopt a son to be my successor. If they do not want a guardian, in the capacity of Guardian, I would go into occultation for life and transfer the spiritual authority vested in the Institution of Guardianship to the presently functioning Universal House of Justice so that it may continue in its operation with the spiritual authority it now lacks. Pepe Remey to Brent Mathieu, July 31, 1991 pg. 3
Brent Mathieu is appointed Pepe Remey's successor to the Guardianship in a letter dated August 4, 1990 contingent on Brent's acceptance of Pepe as a Aghsan, Brent rejects the appointment:
"Although I do not object to the claim that Mason was an Aghsan and that I would have to admit to being an Aghsan, myself -- which I don't believe, those of you who DO BELIEVE THAT and WHO DO WANT to see the Guardianship upheld have a right to turn to me as you do...
"Mason Remey named Donald Harvey as his successor. To be honest, I did not want that role for myself and I suggested Donald to Mason to begin with. It would have made no difference for Donald and I were as 'one' to each other...and still are, I believe. Donald is no problem. If Mason is not an Aghsan, neither am I and Donald's appointment will stand on its own and whomever he names to succeed him will be the next Guardian. [Handwritten:] Donald is a person much like I THINK you are Brent....
"As I consider you to be the ONLY one amongst those who have written to me recently regarding Jensen's proposals, worthy of being my spiritual 'son' I would want you to use this statement to assert yourself to the successor to the Guardianship as an AGHSAN.
Now, mind you, I do not consider myself an AGHSAN, but if you all believe I am, I make this appointment based on your belief."
Pepe to Brent Mathieu, August 4, 1990
In a letter dated August 26, 1990 Pepe Remey writes to Brent Mathieu that the Guardian medallion was never placed around his neck. This occurs in the midst of the major argument between Dr. Jensen and Pepe Remey. It directly contradicts earlier statements by Pepe Remey written in the mid-70s that medallion had been placed around Pepe's Neck by Mason Remey. The earlier accounts were from a period of friendliness between the two before the major arguments regarding Mason Remey's Guardianship.
Dr. Opal Jensen passes away September 4, 1990
Brent Mathieu receives "token" from Pepe Remey, a letter from a believer to Mason Remey, Pepe states the believer and Brent share a spiritual affinity, Sept. 10, 1990 see http://sites.google.com/site/causeofgod/home/pepe-letter/letter-pepe-remey-to-brent-mathieu-september-10-1990
Glenn Goldman opens communications with Pepe Remey November, 1990
Dr. Jensen reestablishes second International Baha'i Council (sIBC) (see Zechariah 3) January 9, 1991
Pepe Remey speaks favorably of the three "sub-Guardians": Brent Mathieu, Daniel Scherr and Glen Goldman in a letter to Mathieu dated April 29, 1991. See http://sites.google.com/site/causeofgod/home/pepe-letter/letter-pepe-remey-to-brent-matheiu-april-29-1991 The three sub-Guardians are a pivotal question in the debate on who is the legitimate Guardian in the community. With supporters of Glenn Goldman pointing to it as a argument in favor of understanding Goldman's appointment while those supporting Neal Chase argue that the three sub-Guardians was a decoy to the naming of the true Guardian Neal Chase. However, the Goldman supporters then counter argue that the previous appointment by Mason Remey was cloaked in similiar terms where the three successors to Mason Remey was a panel of three persons with Pepe Remey as the first choice. It should be noted that only Glen Goldman of the three sub-Guardians is still a active believer in Dr. Jensen as the Lamb. A reading of Pepe's letters to the three seem to reveal genuine affection between Pepe and each individual sub-Guardian. On the other hand the relationship between Neal Chase and Pepe Remey is contentious to which the Chase supporters argue that this was merely a testing process. The question to this argument seems to hinge on the persistent antagonism between Dr. Leland Jensen and Pepe Remey until the very last days of Pepe Remey's life. There is a statement from Pepe to support the ideal of him playing the devils advocate to Neal Chase and Dr. Leland Jensen, however that letter is not currently available and it is impossible to read t context of the statement from a letter fragment. We see that in January 1992 Pepe seems to relegate his calling Neal his "boy" as teasing. It should also be noted that the persistent argument of Neal Chase's supporters is that the three sub-Guardians were cut-off, however this attributed to a reading of clear texts in letters where it is revealed that all but one of the sub-Guardians has been cut-off leaving only Glenn Goldman as a sub-Guardian.
Of the three sub-guardians of Pepe Remey the first Brent Mathieu was appointed Pepe's successor, but he rejected this appointment. Daniel Scherr disappeared from the scene, did Pepe give him a literal appointment? The third sub-Guardian Glenn Goldman has no literal appointment but is the only one remaining of the three putting forward a claim to Guardianship.
Dr. Jensen breaks the Seventh Seal, sends 7th Epistle to Pepe Remey Sends letter to Knight Courageous Brent Mathieu, should be noted that in that letter names Neal Chase the Peter of the Apostles, the body of the legislative that is the rod of Iron, not the rod of Wood which is the executive, the Guardian of the Cause of God, which when the two meet becomes the rod of Gold. May 2, 1991
In a letter dated May 15, 1991 to Brent Mathieu Pepe Remey claims to have thrown away the 7th Epistle of Dr. Jensen before reading it. One significance of this is that according to Neal Chase Dr. Jensen nominated Neal to be Guardian in the 7th Epistle but if never read by Pepe then he may have not known of this nomination. Although in the 7th Epistle there is no direct statement of nomination in it or any of the addendums. May 15, 1991 See http://sites.google.com/site/causeofgod/home/pepe-letter/letter-pepe-remey-to-brent-mathieu-may-2-1991
sIBC investigates claims of Danny Scherr to be the next Guardian writing on August 15, 1991:
Likewise we have it from the highest authorities that Danny has been promoting himself to be the next infallible interpreter guardian based on the claim that he has at least one letter from Pepe calling him "his boy." Of course in order to be the next guardian he would have to be legally adopted in a court of law in this country, evidence which Danny has not produced; and even then Danny would have to be appointed to that position by Pepe within Pepe's lifetime. [sIBC Amy & Sara 8/15/91 p. 54]
http://sites.google.com/site/causeofgod/home/sibc-letters/sibc-to-amy-krueger-august-15-1991
Pepe writes to Neal Chase August 22, 1991:
I might call you "my boy" too. That is not a "carrot" for you and I don't expect you to "butter-up" for it.
September 9, 1991, Pepe Remey writes a harsh letter to Neal Chase establishing facts and conditions for them to proceed forward together. Pepe writes:
Dear Neal Chase:
In spite of my many "harsh" words for you--which are "forced efforts" on my part to provoke you into "open conflict"---there has always remained some "carry-over" of the initial "agreeability" of our first contact. We are, evidently, on different "TRACKS" and keep drifting farther apart. Nevertheless, my seemingly "antagonistic" efforts to arouse in you even a "faint" suspicion that you might be wrong, is, in reality, my sincere concern for your spiritual welfare. You cannot see yourself "OBJECTIVELY" as others see you because you refuse to step "outside" to get an objective view of what is going on "inside" that spiritual "MESH" you have been trapped in.
Glen Goldman receives the following from Pepe Remey on Sept 17 1991:
On September 17, 1991, he wrote to me:
My dear “boy” – yes, you are all my “boys” my “sons”.
[which according to the reading given to the term "boys" and "sons" by Neal Chase this passage would read, "My dear "ghusn"-- yes, you are all my "aghsan" my "aghsan".]
Neal Chase remarks in a letter to Dave Cornell (May 5, 2002) that in 1991:
It was then in 1991, after the Universal House of Justice was re-established as the second International Baha'i Council in Missoula, Montana, on January 9th, 1991, that 'Abdu'l-Baha's grandson, Pepe, sent me a series of Letters from Florence, Italy, continuing the Aghsan Lineage through me in the same exact way and manner in which 'Abdu'l-Baha continued the Aghsan lineage in his father before him according to Baha'i Law using the terms "My dear Boy" and "MY BOY" always in quotes to show their translation back into Persian as “My dear AGHSAN” and “MY AGHSAN” (Florence, Italy, 22 August, 1991; Florence Italy, 10/5/91). This then became another test for some of the friends even as it did at the time of Mason and Shoghi. When this had occurred Dr. Jensen was elated for he saw that Pepe was continuing the Aghsan Lineage in me making me the Heir Apparent at that time in 1991.
Period of Testing of Candidates for Guardianship by Pepe Remey 1991-1994
According to Neal Chase, Pepe begins testing varous BUPC members for acceptability to be the next Guardian:
This is why Pepe then began to Test the different people who were active in the faith at that time, to see which one would not waver in belief that Pepe was to choose to adopt and appoint to succeed him.
On May 2 of 1991, in his “Book of the Opening of the Seventh Seal”, Part VII (http://sites.google.com/site/causeofgod/home/jensen-letters/910502-jensen-7th-epistle-to-pepe-remey), Doc announces to Pepe that in fact, out of all the different ones, he sees that God has chosen Neal through the fulfillment of prophecy. Many, many people can testify to this fact, as well as Doc's written word, that Doc had stated over and over again, that if it was up to him he would choose "Neal Chase" to be the next Guardian. And this is exactly what Pepe asked for, who Doc's choice would be. Thus by May 2, 1991, Doc had made this fact known to Pepe in his Epistles to Pepe and Pepe then went ahead with testing the various ones, of which only Neal Chase passed his Test and criteria of loyalty to the Lamb, and standing up to Pepe's sparing and deliberate oppositions publicly. So he wrote that it was not a "carrot" for Neal, meaning that he had passed his Test. He later apologized to both Neal and Dr. Jensen for being forced by the circumstances of the time to use the strong, vulgar or offensive language he sometimes used in his private and public letters to or about Doc and Neal. To Neal, Pepe concedes: "be surprised what beautiful spiritual expressions will be showered on you. It wasn't my nature to be vulgar." (Sept. 20, 1991); and again, to Dr. Jensen, Pepe apologizes: "Unfortunately, my Italian sentiments got the best of me and I allowed myself to get carried away in my retaliatory responses." (2-9-92) Thus showing that in the end God Almighty Alone is in control of His Kingdom and Creation! (http://bupc.org/test-of-god.html, accessed 11/25/2009)
It should be noted that neither in the Part VII of the Book of the Opening of the Seventh Seal, nor in the addendums does Dr. Jensen make an explicit nomination to the position of Guardianship. The argument that Chase puts forward regarding the testing is possibly supported by the following quote from a letter received by Neal Chase from Pepe Remey on Septermber 21, 1991:
“Dear “Neal”:
“Read Gloster’s soliloquy, Act I, Scene III: “I [Pepe] do the wrong, and first begin to brawl, The secret mischiefs that I set abroach I lay unto the grievous charge of others.” (that’s you Neal!) .…he goes on…. “Now, they believe it; and withal whet me To be revenged on”……(defectors Brent, Dan, Sara, Amy)….now comes the best part…..“But then I sigh; and, with a piece of scripture, Tell them that God bids us do good for evil;
And thus I [Pepe] clothe my naked villainy With old odd ends stolen out of holy writ; And seem a saint, when most I [Pepe] play the devil.”….. (Pepe to Neal, 9/21/1991)
What is unkown is the context this appears in since we do not have access to the full letter. The use of bracketed comments is believed to be additions by Neal Chase, Pepe is not known to use brackets in his letters. Without the full context of the full letter which is not currently available we are unable to confirm whether this is an authentic supporting text. What is interesting is the internal evidence for if it is authentic then listing Brent as a defector while delegating tasks to him would be a direct contradiction. Albeit, if this letter is like any other written at the height of the disagreement between Pepe and Jensen/Chase then we should see that this letter will probably be revealed to be more biting satire by Pepe aimed at Neal Chase's expense. See entry for January 1992 in which Pepe seems to indicate that he was teasing Neal Chase the whole time with such talk of adoption.
Pepe Remey issues two letters to the general community denouncing Dr. Leland Jensen's claims to be a Promised One as well Neal Chase is castigated and one to ex-supporters of Dr. Jensen October 1, 1991 see http://sites.google.com/site/causeofgod/home/pepe-letter/letter-pepe-remey-to-all-concerned-october-1-1991
V.P. Anita resigns from the second International Baha'i Council (sIBC) October 1991
According to Neal Chase Pepe asks Neal if Pepe should adopt him, the context is hard to read according the available letter fragment according to Dave Cornell's letter of 6/2/2002 the following is the passage from the letter from Pepe to Neal:
P.S. Pepe still has patience with you, Neal. Shall I adopt you? Be a good "Boy" now. Please make the best you can from these scraps. Pepe
[Pepe to Neal, 10/3/91]
According to a letter circulated to Brent Mathieu Pepe grants Brent the right to distribute his letters as he sees fit. Neal Chase receives the following from Pepe Remey, October 5, 1991:
“Dear Neal “MY DEAR ‘AGHSAN’” You must be very DEAR to God for Him to be so Concerned over your spiritual WELFARE and I consider it a special PRIVILEGE to be the CHOSEN ONE to free you because, in spite of my continuous antagonistic attacks on you, Neal, there is something very LOVABLE about you.” (Pepe to Neal, 10/5/1991). see http://sites.google.com/site/causeofgod/home/chase-letters/letter-chase-to-michael-mccarron-november-9-2009
It should be pointed out without the original letter to verify that the term 'AGHSAN' appears here we should point out that in other instances Neal Chase believes that "Boy" or "Son" is translated back into Persian as 'AGHSAN' which he developed from Doc. Although the term "boy" or "son" in Persian is not 'AGHSAN' (Branches) it is used interchangeably by Neal Chase and others. We cannot confirm at this time that the actual term used here is 'Boy' or 'Aghsan' without the original letter. See letter below for another example of Pepe only using the term 'Boy'.
Significantly in a letter dated the same day Neal receives another letter stating:
Dear Neal "My dear Boy"
Dear Brent: My purpose is to BOMBARD Neal & Leland with a dose of their own Ammunition
Pepe
P.S. Distribute as you see fit.
Pepe Remey issues his own version of the Baha'i Administration independent of Dr. Jensen's concepts. Pepe delineates his views on the Guardianship. Tells Brent Mathieu to circulate his views on the subject. October 9, 1991 see http://sites.google.com/site/causeofgod/home/pepe-letter/pepe-remey-outline-of-bahai-administration-october-9-1991
Pepe Remey reveals the order of the sub-Guardians in a letter to Brent Mathieu:

Neal Chase receives the following from Pepe Remey in January of 1992:
“My ‘teasing’ you in the past represented my way of trying to get you to understand the IMPOSSIBILITY of my taking you seriously because your production of ‘fantasy tales’ ‘distortions of facts’ ‘unfounded assumptions’ and the myriad of ‘out-and-out lies’ you have been shamefacedly publishing and distributing are so OUTLANDISH that you couldn’t be SERIOUSLY convinced they would have any REAL effect on me....

Neal Chase receives no further letters that are known at this time where he is addressed as "boy" or "son".
Glen Goldman recieves the following from Pepe Remey on February 4, 1992:
I have no children of my own and my purpose in life has always been to instill in the minds of youngsters who enter the sphere of my own life, something noble and fine that will help them through life, thus projecting myself into the future through them… just as Mason Remey has done with me. Mason succeeded in projecting himself through me and when I defend him, it is as if he himself were alive and defending himself. If, through some help from me, you achieve success in life and remember my contribution, you do me honor in the future. I know the pleasure individuals I have helped in the past have experienced because of my relationship to them, and the joy I experience is not for myself alone, but for themselves too because it is a glorious experience to know someone loves you and wants to help you and continue to love you even when you are far apart… even in death.
Pepe writes to Dr. Jensen apologizing for his oppositional attitude: "Unfortunately, my Italian sentiments got the best of me and I allowed myself to get carried away in my retaliatory responses." (2-9-92) Pepe Remey attempts reconciliation with Dr. Leland Jensen and apologizes for his “italian sentiments” toward Dr. Jensen's claims. http://sites.google.com/site/causeofgod/home/pepe-letter/pepe-remey-to-leland-jensen-february-9-1992

Pepe writes to Glenn Goldman, March 29, 1993:
At one time in the past – several years ago – when I was carrying on an active correspondence with Daniel Scherr, yourself and Brent Mathieu I thought seriously that should the time come when the mainstream Baha’is might want to correct their error regarding Mason’s claim to the guardianship and ask me to succeed him, I would have had the three of you as sub-guardians – one to dedicate himself only to the WORD – one to the Administrative Order of `Abdu’l-Baha and one to the Teaching Efforts. I believe the time will come when only one guardian will not be able to handle all the chores. There may be several guardians acting in various capacities but only one spiritual Head (The Repository of Divine Guidance) to oversee all and to assure that PROTECTION promised by Baha’u’llah. I was enthralled with the three of you and should have been proud to have you as my “sons.” A pity it all fell apart. You are the only one of the three who is still in communication.
[emphasis added]
August, 1993 Brent Mathieu receives last communication from Pepe Remey
Glen Goldman receives final publicly known communication from Pepe Remey to Glenn Goldman on August 31, 1993:
Dear Glenn, Your wanting to share with me the good news that you surely deserved was appreciated. I read all you wrote with sincere interest. Perhaps I have no right to be, but feel “PROUD” of your accomplishments nonetheless.
sIBC Incorporated according to the laws of the state of Montana December 20, 1993 The instructions of Dr. Leland Jensen on incorporation is conveyed in the documents "The Book of Order" and in the organizational meeting notes [see sIBC Letters section] of December 20, 1993 (http://sites.google.com/site/causeofgod/home/sibc-letters/sibc-organizational-meeting-notes-december-20-1993) Pepe Remey is appointed it's executive and Wind Jensen the liason between Dr. Leland Jensen, the Lamb, and the Council.
Dr. Leland Jensen to J.Marangella January 12, 1994
Pepe Remey in a letter to Leland Jensen remarks regarding the concept of sub-Guardians in a January 18, 1994 letter just months before his death:
A time may come when the Administrative work may be so vast, the spiritual successor will not be able to serve as “Guardian”. He may appoint one, two or more Guardians to oversee different aspects of the Administrative order. What is wrong with that? (Joseph Pepe Remey, letter to Dr. Leland Jensen, 1/18/94, p. 6) [currently letter is not available, only fragment is from GDG letter]
Pepe Remey refutes Guardianship of Donald Harvey, January 18, 1994
"If Mason had been recognized by the masses of believers as both spiritual and administrative head of the Faith then I would naturally have fallen in line as his successor. I have encouraged confused individuals to turn to Donald Harvey (as you pointed out).
I have never considered Donald the Spiritual Successor to Baha'u'llah."
Dr. Leland Jensen to Pepe thanking him for the kindly letter of January 19, 1994. Dr. Jensen says he does not want to re-establish communications with Pepe Remey February 14, 1994 see http://sites.google.com/site/causeofgod/home/jensen-letters/leland-jensen-to-pepe-remey-february-14-1994
The Four Veils of Daniel by Dr. Leland Jensen circa March 1994
Joseph Pepe Remey dies April 11, 1994 the sIBC does not recognize a successor Guardian. Neal Chase claims that Doc already knows of his selection as the next Guardian but Dr. Jensen does nothing to have Neal Chase sit as the Executive of the sIBC as is accordance with the Will and Testament of Abdu'l-Baha. Glenn Goldman's appointment as sub-Guardian is unkown to Dr. Leland Jensen according to his wife at the time, Wind Jensen.
Dr. Leland Jensen writes a final letter to Pepe Remey it is a refutation of certain points made in Pepe's last letter and a final request for Pepe to cease writing Dr. Jensen and Dr. Jensen will not be writing to Pepe anymore. Dr. Jensen was unaware at the time that Pepe Remey had passed on to the next life.
Neal Chase has a vision on April 29, 1994 he writes regarding this in a letter to Dave Cornell in 2002:
At the time we heard that Pepe had passed on, on the day of April 29th, 1994, I re-read the Aghsan Letters he sent me and I cried. I realized that this was all there was that Pepe had left for the Test to continue and that all the world would stand in rejection to this, and that my whole life had just come to an end, now that I was officially saddled with this personal calamity as of April 11, 1994. I had just had a baby with Dawn, on April 4th, and God showed me a vision that I would be separated from my children for a time, and great calamities would assail me from all directions both from inside and outside the faith, and from both inside and outside my immediate family escalating in prescribed degrees and coinciding with world events until the whole world would become Baha'i.
[Part of this vision came true as Neal's wife, Dawn Chase, has become estranged from Neal and voted against recognition of him as the Guardian]
Neal Chase and Wind Jensen are sent by Dr. Jensen to New York to retrieve the artifacts from Pepe Remey's Estate, May 1994 Wind Jensen and Neal Chase have two different versions of events. Neal Chase claims that he was intended to have the ring from Pepe from the start, that it was presented to him by Doc at a forum this signifies his appointment according to prophecy of the signet ring. Wind Jensen's account disagrees with this. According to her Pepe's sister contacted three different groups to come claim the Pepe Remey's and Mason Remey's relics. The only group to respond were the Jensenites. Doc dispatched her and Neal to recover the relics. They were entrusted to Dr. Jensen upon their return. According to Wind Jensen, Pepe's sister, Anna Diamore (ney Pepe) of Middletown, NJ, had never heard of Neal Chase but had heard of Glenn Goldman.
In 2005 Neal Chase recalls of this time, May 1994:
Later when I returned from New York area with the token of the lapis Lazuli ring, he had me show this to all the people at a public forum. I was devastated. I had hoped Pepe would pass this on to someone else, like Danny Scherr, or Glenn Goldman or someone else like that. But they were both cut off, and neither of them, and no one else alive in the world today, qualifies; and neither of them, and no one else alive in the world today, fulfills the two-part criteria. The lapis Lazuli ring, which represents the throne of David, is the Baha'i ringstone seal of the Greatest Name. This prophesied token of appointment seals the deal, so to speak -- and those who accepts this are sealed on the forehead, the intellect, with the knowledge of God, knowing His Covenant and His plan and who the living guardian is, having passed this Test. By the time the 144,000 pass the Test toaccept that Mason fulfills the two part criteria for being Aghsan through the Letters from ‘Abdu’l-Baha and the token of appointment from him in the form of the hair and the blood, they will have no problem at all, and no obstacle at all in accepting the successor to his son on the same exact criteria of the Aghsan Letters of adoption from Pepe and the token of appointment from him in the form of the prophesied lapis Lazuli ring he had made for his successor within his life-time and passed on to him. (Chase to Cornell, February 5, 2005)
This section is directly related to the issue of the three sub-Guardians that Neal Chase believes were cutoff by Pepe, but the recent letter shared by Glenn Goldman (originally circulated anonymously in 2004) shows that this is not the case, it could be argued that according to the time-line of developments that when Brent Mathieu refused the offer of being the next Guardian, that the torch was passed on to Glenn Goldman for he falls into place on the timeline corresponding to the reproachement between Dr. Jensen and Pepe Remey and at the time that Pepe and Brent Mathieu have a fallling out (spring, 1992). Note should also be paid to the fact that the method of appointment in this passage is the Prophecy of the Ring. However, in an earlier letter Neal Chase stated the following regarding the appointment:
Subj: Pepe's son, Ben Joseph Aghsan
Date: Mon, 27 May 2002 10:13:55 PM Eastern Daylight Time
From: Neal Chase <mustaghath@xxx>
To: DaveCrnll@xxx
As in the case of Mason, when 'Abdu'l-Baha wrote Mason the Aghsan Letters, this was the appointment, adoption and proclamation of Mason to be his successor to the throne of David -- Pepe followed this same example, and the Aghsan Letters to his son, are the appointment, adoption and proclamation of him to that very same promised throne. From the nature, tone and tenure of your last e-mail, permeating the irrelevant nature of your points, I am sorry to say, you appear to be lost and distracted, beyond any help which I myself could ever be able to give you.
According to Neal Chase and his follower, Dr. Leland Jensen presents the ring from the Pepe Remey estate to Neal Chase. Wind Jensen refutes this account and insists that Neal had the ring in his possession and that Dr. Jensen made Neal give him the ring so that it would go along with the rest of the Guardian's possessions. After Dr Jensen's passing, those possessions were transferred to Wind and she has since transferred them to the one she believes to be the next Aghsan Guardian. In affadavits filed as part of a court case Victor Woods argues this indicates that Neal is the chosen next Guardian [see Document T, http://sites.google.com/site/causeofgod/home/sibc-letters/court-case-documents ]. In a letter to Dave Cornell this is repeated. They believe that according to Bible prophecy (Haggai 2:20-23) the method of appointment is through whomever is given the signet ring is the Branch (Zerubabbel), that is the head of the UHJ. Critics of this interpretation of Bible passages cited point out the prophecy says that Zerubbabel is like a signet ring. In other words, he is the sign of God that the Davidic king is supposed to be. Not that he will be appointed by means of a signet ring. They also believer that Zerubabbel was actually Mason Remey not the successor to Pepe.

Mason Remey archives which had been sealed since 1940 at several academic institutions such as Stanford, Princeton, John Hopkins, are unsealed in 1995, revealing more proofs to the argument that Mason had been adopted by `Abdu'l-Baha.
1996, Leland Jensen entrusts the Hair and Blood of Baha'u'llah to his wife Wind Jensen to be given to the next Guardian. Wind Jensen acts in the official capacity of Doc's Liason to the sIBC. Wind Jensen gives the token of the Hair and Blood to Glen Goldman in 2009.

Neal Chase makes proclamation to be Guardian of the Cause of God, at the time 138 people are members of the BUPC, 120 go with Neal Chase and 18 are labelled "Covenant Breakers" by Neal Chase, evidence exists showing that this was planned for several months before happening by Neal Chase. Majority sIBC sues Neal Chase for control of the sIBC, April 26, 2002. Court finds in 2004 that declaring the sIBC members Covenant Breakers is in opposition to established procedures established by Dr. Leland Jensen and previous sIBC decisions.
March 2003, Victor Woods releases "Proofs for Guardianship" a argument to recognize Neal Chase's Guardianship based on the belief that Neal is a Promised One of God mentioned in the Old Testament prophecies regarding the return of the King (the Branch). They argue that Neal is prophesied by Name, Date and Mission. Critics of this approach point out that the name Neal taken from the Gaelic meaning "Champion" (Jer. 23:6) does not appear in the passage cited, the term is Righteous (tsediq) which is not translated into English as Champion by any major Biblical interpreter. The term for champion in hebrew is 'gibbor'. The Date prophecy which is related to the famous "Time of the Gentiles" prophecy of 2520 years was originally used to explain the advent of the Bab. The Mission is common to whomever becomes the Guardian. See http://sites.google.com/site/causeofgod/home/victor-woods-letters/proofs-for-the-guardianship-of-neal-chase

A discussion erupts on the Soghomonian aligned discussion list "Heart of the Baha'i Faith" regarding Neal Chase's claims to be Guardian. It is revealed that Brent Mathieu was offered the appointment of succession to the Guardianship by Pepe Remey, which was rejected by Brent Mathieu. Supporters of Neal Chase argue that the 3 sub-Guardians were all cut-off, forcing Glen Goldman for the first publicly known occurence to bring forward part of his arguments for the Guardianship. Additionally, he discloses the full quote regarding the cutting off of the 3 sub-Guardians which reveals that 2 of the sub-Guardians ceased activities leaving only Glenn Goldman in the position of sub-Guardian.
