Farsi 63. O YE PEOPLES OF THE WORLD!
Know, verily, that an unforeseen calamity followeth you, and grievous retribution awaiteth you. Think not that which ye have committed hath been effaced in My sight. By My beauty! "As Shoghi Effendi, in his “Dispensation”, states that “…in the person of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá the incompatible characteristics of a human nature and superhuman knowledge and perfection have been blended and are completely harmonized” (World Order 134). It is obviously impossible for anyone in any discussion to take away from ‘Abdu’l-Bahá’s inner reality His “superhuman knowledge and perfection”. I know much has been made about Mason Remey and Doc's teaching that
great earthquakes would strike the world, according to this obscure
book published in 1917 that Google has scanned, this teaching
originated with a series of questions Mason Remey asked Abdu'l-Baha.
In which Abdu'l-Baha talks about a great calamity after 1335 days ( in
1917) and earthquakes, etc. This prophecy seems to originate with Mason Remey's 1910-11
visit with Abdu'l-Baha.

A PROPHESY FROM PERSIA
A number of years ago, Mr. Charles Mason Remey prepared a series of
questions, which he was permitted to ask from Abdul Baha, the present
leader of the world-wide Bahai movement, which originated in Persia
something more than fifty years ago, and which, at the present time,
has something like ten million followers, although there is no formal
organization, the founders of the movement discountenancing any
attempt to form one. Part of the questions and answers, as recorded at
the time, were as follows:
Question. "What is the significance of the twelfth verse of the
twelfth chapter of Daniel: 'Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to
the thousand three hundred and five and thirty (1335) days?"
Answer. "After that date, a great disturbance, a terrible calamity, is
to happen in the world."
Question. "Is this to be in the form of war and strife, or will it be
as an earthquake, such as those which have happened in Messina and
elsewhere!"
Answer. "Wars and earthquakes, such as you have mentioned, will
happen, but these, compared with this great catastrophe to come, will
be as nothing. As in the past, whole peoples and civilizations have,
through physical changes, been obliterated, so that not a trace has
remained. So it will be, when this great change shall take place."
Question. "In the Bible, there is a prophesy: 'And it shall come to
pass that in all the land, saith the Lord, two parts therein shall be
cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein. And I will bring
the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is
refined, and will try them as gold is tried; they shall call on my
name, and I will hear them; I will say, It is my people; and they
shall say, The Lord is my God' (Zech. 13: 8, 9). Does this refer to
the happenings in question?"
Answer. "Yes."
Question. "Will this take place soon after the date 1917, which is the
end of the 1335 prophetical 'days,' mentioned in Daniel, or will it be
in the very distant future?"
Answer. "It is not so very soon, nor, again, nor is it in the distant
future."

George Lattimer Pilgrim Notes from 1919:
This date is reckoned according to solar time. From the declaration of Mohammed, 1335 years will pass according to solar reckoning. There will be a very blessed cause at that time, that is reckoning from the Heigira. three or four years before 1917 He interpreted it to mean the year 1917. They reckoned it according to lunar time. now this reckoning according to lunar time 1305 years. Those years ago they were expectant. They wrote everywhere that the Messiah will appear. The Rabbis of the Holy land wrote everywhere. Even a Persian Jew came to me and said in the year 1335 the Messiah will appear. it is certain. All the Rabbis are agreed upon it….
Dr. Esslemont asked what are we to expect at the end of 1335 years. What shall we see?
AB: "Thank god you are still young. Universal Peace will be established, the oneness of the World of Humanity will be established. No war will remain. The teachings of God will be promulgated. One language will be adopted and spread. Misunderstandings will pass away and it will be very good."
Mr. Randall asked if the geography of the world would be the same then as it is now?
AB: Yes, there will be changes. There are places which are conclusively proved to have once been the sea. This has been caused by the great cataclysms of the Universe. For example the Himalayan mountains are about 9000 meters high. It is one of the highest mountains ranges. On the summit there are many crustacean remains of the sea. For instance the skeleton of sponges. Alkali is found there. So much is there, that it is impossible to have been transported there. This shows that this was once the bottom of the ocean. On the island [unreadable] in the Mediterranean Sea there was a great earthquake it brogan to boiler and became a large island. Then it solidified. First it was liquid then it solidified. zIt became green stone. Then it gradually crumbled. Therefore the geography of the earth will not remain in one condition….
H.L. said that the friends in America thought that the Bible prophecy of the cutting off of truth-- [unreadable] of the world meant a physical cataclysm. In the Remey-Struven notes it says that a great disturbance will happen not so soon nor yet so far after the year 1917.' What [unreadable] does this have with the cataclysm the Master spoke of last evening?
This disturbance is not that disturbance [AB goes onto talk about geological changes that are lost to memory]
Azizullah Khan remarked it is in Mr. Remey's notes which are spread in Persia.
AB: That had no reference to this talk. That had nothing to do with this Cause [the talk last night about geological changes]. What He ( baha'o'llah) was concerning the disturbances refer to the [unreadable]. Negligence will reach to such a state [unreadable] no records will remain. Then a great disturbance will happen, but not now.much as 6000 years ago. For instance before that time such events had occurred which are now forgotten. All the happenings are forgotten. There are no remains of this (happenings). But that in which Mr. Remey says refered to this Cause. These are great happenings the writings of the Blessed Beauty are still [unreadable] concerning these great happenings. He says there is a great calamity following the world (Hidden Words) "Great Calamity", He says. Mr. Lattimer asked what relation that catastrophe had with the year 1335 (1957)
AB: it will happen after this time.
Mr. Esselmont will these things come in 1335?
AB: near 1335 [unreadable] every 100 years there is a difference of 3 years. The difference between lunar and solar time, every hundred years, is this years. That is, once every 33.5 years For instance thirty-three years in every thousand, ten years every 333. After 4 years transpired, 40+30+5 equals 75 from which the declaration of the Blessed Beauty is nearly one century.
One of the people at the table when this prophecy was handed down wrote to Mason Remey in 1933:
My beloved Mason,
How many, many times my heart has gone out in love and sympathy to you but I did not know what to write. Always I remember these words of the Master back in 1919 and the impressiveness of His majestic presence and emphasis when he said to us: "Mr. Remey is very strong. He works very hard…. He has gone everywhere.. and I am going to send him to Persia so that he may be in one day in the East and one day in the West…. His soul has a great future."
A great time of testing and purification that will purify the Cause is soon to occur, as the Master told us, and the few chosen ones that remain firm in their love to Shoghi Effendi will become holy and free and radiant and illumine the world. How we long to have a good visit with you!
