These are really light. Justin and Jessie love these!
From the kitchen of: Joplin Elementary Cookbook
INGREDIENTS:
- 1/4 C. warm water
- 1/4 t sugar
- 1 T yeast
- 2 1/2 C flour
- 1 t salt
- 1/2 t soda
- 1 t baking powder
- 1/3 C sugar
- 1/4 C oil
- 1 C buttermilk
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Combine water, 1/4 t sugar and yeast. Mix and let foam ~5 min.
- In a separate bowl combine flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder, and 1/3 C sugar.
- Add oil and buttermilk to yeast mixture. Add yeast mixture to flour mixture. Stir well.
- Turn out onto a floured surface. Pat out to about 5/8 inch thickness and cut and place on greased sheet.
- Bake immediately or let them raise of 20-30 min. Bake at 400o F for 12 min.
