Caramel Apples
From the kitchen of: Samoan Cookbook
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 1/2 C brown sugar
- 1/2 C light corn syrup
- 1/4 C butter or margarine
- 7 oz. (1/2 can) sweetened condensed milk
- 6 apples
- 6 Popsicle sticks or equivalent
- crispy rice cereal, granola, or nuts for decorating.
INSTRUCTIONS:
- In a large saucepan, combine brown sugar and corn syrup.
- Bring to a boil.
- Add butter and let melt
- Add sweetened condensed milk and bring back to a boil.
- Cook to firm ball stage (245o F)
- Insert wooden sticks near the stem of each apple.
- Dip apples in caramel and then in cereal, granola, or nuts.
- Stand on a buttered cookie sheet to set up.
