Exodus 15:1-2
Then Moses and the Israelites sang this song to the Lord: "I will sing to the Lord, for He is highly exalted. The Lord is my Strength and my Defense; He has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise Him, my father's God, and I will exalt Him."
Psalm 103:1-2 (NLT)
Let all that I am praise the Lord; with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name.
Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things he does for me.
Psalms 105:1-2 (NKJV)
Oh, give thanks to the LORD! Call upon His name; Make known His deeds among the peoples!
Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him; Talk of all His wondrous works!
Psalm 116:12 (KJV)
What shall I render unto the Lord for all His benefits toward me?
Psalm 118:1
Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
William Cooper in Voices From The Past, Puritan Devotional Readings
The decree to send Jesus for poor sinners, the opening of a fountain of grace, the making and ratifying of the covenant of grace, his precious promises, with all other choice gospel privileges of grace and glory, of God's all sufficiency, and the infinite merit and righteousness of the Son upon the cross - all of these deserve a suitable and proportionate gift of thanks and blessing from us, both here and in heaven.
Thomas Watson The Beatitudes
O adore free grace, triumph in this love! Spend and be spent for the Lord. Lay out yourselves in thankfulness. Never think you can do enough for that God who will shortly set you ashore in the land of promise.

The life of thankfulness consisteth in the thankfulness of thy life.
Thomas Brooks The Unsearchable Riches of Christ
The humble soul will bless God under misery as well as under mercy. He will look through all secondary causes, and see the hand of God. He lays his hand upon his heart and sweetly sings "Blessed be the name of the Lord. If it is your will that I should be in darkness, I will bless you; and if it is your will that I should be again in light, I will bless you; if you comfort me, I will bless; and if you afflict, I will bless."

That thou shouldest die for me remains the greatest of all miracles in my esteem. That thou shouldest choose me, and call me, and pardon me, and save me, is a world of wonders, at which my soul stands gratefully amazed.
“Daily Blessings for God’s People”, Sept. 21, 1871
Psalm 68: 19-20 - “Blessed be the Lord, who daily loads us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. He that is our God is the God of salvation, and unto God the Lord belong (escape) from death.”

Think of the benefits which you have received. Turn them over in your mind—the benefits that you have actually yourself received—not only read of, and heard of, and had promises of, but that you have received. Oh, the benefits of being restrained from sin! Oh, the benefits of conviction; of being enlightened and made to see the guilt of sin. Oh, the sweet benefit of being led to the Savior; made to stand at the foot of the cross. Oh, the benefit of perfect pardon and of righteousness which covers us and justifies us in the sight of God! What an unspeakable benefit is regeneration! Who shall prize the benefit of adoption? Who is he that shall describe the benefit of daily education in the things of God—of preservation from falling into final, vital sin—of sanctification carried on from day to day?

2 Corinthians 9:15 “Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.”
Whenever we think, we ought to thank.
The Heidelberg Catechism’s outline - Guilt, Grace, Gratitude - is exactly right. We are sinners by nature and birth; we are redeemed by the work of God in Christ; we love him because he first loved us (1 John 4:19).
F.B. Meyer on Psalm 107 "Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever."
How often I have awakened tired and out-of-heart, my soul beaten down by worry; and when the usual Bible-study has failed to grip, or prayer has seemed cold and mechanical, my disconsolate heart has started to praise, to give thanks for mercies received, and to adore the majesty and glory of God. As I thus continued, my soul has thawed, and my spirit found wings.

If you would have an increase of happiness in Christ's service, "labor every year to be more thankful." Pray that you may know more and more what it is to "rejoice in the Lord" (Philippians 3:1). Learn to have a deeper sense of your own wretched sinfulness and corruption, and to be more deeply grateful, that by the grace of God you are what you are. Yes, there is too much complaining and too little thanksgiving among the people of God! There is too much murmuring and poring over the things that we don't have. There is too little praising and blessing for the many undeserved mercies that we have. Oh that God would pour out upon us a great spirit of thankfulness and praise!
D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones
God's Way Of Reconciliation, Ephesians 2
I believe that the whole condition and state of the Church today is largely due to the fact that we…never realise the depth of the pit out of which we have been brought by the grace of God that we do not thank God as we ought. And then there is our failure to realise the great heights to which He has raised us. (Ephesians 1:3, 2:19)
Assurance: An Exposition of Romans 5:1-2, “Peace With God and False Peace”

The man who has true peace is a man who never ceases to be amazed that he has it, amazed at the fact that he has ever been justified at all, that God has ever looked upon him and called him by his grace. There is no better index of where we stand than the amount of praise and of thanksgiving that characterizes our lives and our prayers.
“The Valley of Vision”
Grant me never to lose sight of
the exceeding sinfulness of sin,
the exceeding righteousness of salvation,
the exceeding glory of Christ,
the exceeding beauty of holiness,
the exceeding wonder of grace.
Joseph Addison (1672-1719) “When All Thy Mercies, O My God”
When all thy mercies, O my God,
My rising soul surveys,
Transported with the view, I'm lost
In wonder, love, and praise.
Unnumbered comforts on my soul
Thy tender care bestowed,
Before my infant heart conceived
From whom those comforts flowed.
When in the slippery paths of youth
With heedless steps I ran,
Thine arm, unseen, conveyed me safe,
And led me up to man.
Ten thousand thousand precious gifts
My daily thanks employ;
Nor is the least a cheerful heart,
That tastes those gifts with joy.
Through every period of my life
Thy goodness I'll pursue;
And after death, in distant worlds,
The glorious theme renew.
Through all eternity, to thee
A joyful song I'll raise;
But O, eternity's too short
To utter all thy praise!
Henri Nouwen
Resentment and gratitude cannot coexist, since resentment blocks the perception and experience of life as a gift.
(It is impossible to be grouchy and grateful at the same time.)
