Be Set Free - Forgiven

John 8:36

So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

Galatians 5:1

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free.

A.W. Tozer on Spiritual Freedom, The Next Chapter After the Last

The spirit of complete inward freedom is a precious heritage from the cross and should be treasured as one of life's most wonderful possessions. It is our privilege to be wholly free from evil habits, from superstition, from shame, from the fear of men, from the slavery of popular customs, from the necessity of pleasing the self-elected dictators of society. Such freedom is wondrously delightful, near to the joy of heaven itself.

CAUTION

D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones Faith on Trial

Let us go to that gracious loving God and acknowledge that we have no claim upon Him at all, and no right to His forgiveness. The trouble with many of us is that...we feel we have a right to be forgiven. Paul, after years of preaching, looked back across the past and said he was "the chief of sinners". (1 Timothy 1:15) He was still amazed at the wondrous cross and the love of God in Jesus Christ our Lord.

That You should die for me remains the greatest of all miracles in my esteem. That You should choose me and call me and pardon me and save me, is a world of wonders at which my soul stands gratefully amazed!
