Cambridge – City, Countryside and Riverside
Cambridge is the cycling capital of the UK; according to 2013/14 government statistics, more residents cycle a least three time wee in Cambridge (at 33%) than any other local authority (second highest is Oxford at 22%, and average for England is 4.4%). It has around 35 bicycle shops.

• Waitrose has café and toilets. It is about 2 minutes cycling from Trumpington Park & Ride (cost to park for the day is £1). Trumpington Park & Ride is just after where the A10 meets the M11 at junction 11

• There is a cycle-friendly, off-peak train leaving Hatfield Station at 9:27am, due to arrive at Cambridge at 10:29am
• There are snacks and toilets available at the station (railside, on Platform 1)
Route
16 mile ride from Cambridge Railway Station to lunch at The Plough, Green End, Fen Ditton, CB5 8SX (tel: 01223 293264).
Followed by 10 mile ride to afternoon tea at The Orchard Tea Gardens, 43 Mill Way, Grantchester, CB3 9ND (tel: 0123 551125).
Then 1 mile ride back to Trumpington Park & Ride and further 3 mile ride back to Cambridge Railway Station.
Total distance Trumpington to Trumpington, or Cambridge Railway Station to Cambridge Railway Station, is about 30 miles (virtually all flat – just one upward slope, i.e. hill).
Mostly on cycle paths or on-road cycle lanes (including parts of National Cycle Network 11) - some cobbles, long stretch of river tow path, one level crossing, many cattle grids. Main hazard is pedestrians, particularly tourists!
