About a dozen or so people gathered at Morrison's cafe in St Albans before joining the B ride to go to The Green Man in Leverstock Green. I say about a dozen or so as the leader confessed to not having a printer so wasn't able to log the participants present. We headed north from the cafe, along Jersey lane to Sandridge, then cut through Nomansland Common to the Harpenden Road, before dropping down Beeson End Lane to cross the river Ver at Redbournbury Mill. As the photo shows, this was a tricky, wet procedure, especially when a heavy electric bike had to be manoeuvred over the water. Good job Steve Brazier had his gore-tex socks on! We then went south on the former A5 main road before turning up Punch Bowl Lane through Maylands Industrial Estate on the old Buncefield Lane, before running across the dual carriageway to reach the back lanes to the pub. In the pub some of us were miffed that we did not get offered the good value £5 lunch menu, but overall the pub did well and could be used again.
