Induction Week Activities for Single Honours and Dual Honours Philosophy Students
Monday 18th September
11.00 am - Welcome Meeting
Welcome from the Head of Department, Professor Rosanna Keefe and Director of Undergraduate Studies, Niall Connolly
12.00 pm - Visit by Cat Atkinson/Ben Webster from the Faculty Wellbeing Team.

Tuesday 19th September

Wednesday 20th September
1.00 pm - 2.00 pm Societies and Philosophy Student-run Clubs
Come and meet the students who head up the teams for The Philosophy Society, Philosophy in the City and the PhilonoUs team.
Philosophy Society - Find out what is going on and how you can get involved with Philosophy Society
Philosophy in the City - Meet the students who run the Philosophy in the City project, which involves going into local schools and introducing Philosophy, find out how to get involved.
PhilonoUs - Meet the editorial team and familiarise yourself with the our student-run journal and see how to get involved!

2.00 pm - Race Equality and Consent Conversations (taking place in Induction Wk and Wk 1 - same time and venue) MANDATORY FOR ALL UNDERGRADUATE SINGLE HONOURS AND DUAL HONOURS
Consent conversations will cover key topics on sexual consent, what the law says, some myths and facts about sexual consent and what an active bystander may look like. The session will consist of a 20-minute presentation on key concepts and a 40-minute interactive workshop.
Race Conversations is aimed to explore race and racism, particularly racial inequality in the UK. The session will include examples of privilege, micro aggressions as well as reflective and interactive questions on diversifying the curriculum and tackling difficult conversations. We will also discuss practical intervention tips, equipping our students with skills to safely intervene and protect themselves and or the victim[s]. The session will consist of a 20-minute presentation on key concepts and a 40-minute interactive workshop.

Thursday 21st September
Thought experiment seminars with Academic Staff
Seminars are taking place during the morning.
Please also look at the document “Some Philosophical Thought Experiments” prior to this meeting. You will have been allocated a time slot of either 12pm or 1pm. Please check this document to see what your timeslot is
