The wellbeing service has been set up to provide support for any students who are experiencing low level mental health and wellbeing difficulties. Within this service they provide bespoke, holistic assessment of your needs and utilise therapeutic interventions to help you recognise what the issue is and help formulate a plan to get back on track.
It can be difficult to stay on-top of day to day pressures and maintain routine. The following pages, created by the Faculty Wellbeing Advisors, provides suggestions and ideas as to how you can think through and approach day to day life whilst at University.
The Faculty of Arts and Humanities is committed to providing a supportive environment for all of its students, including trans and non-binary students who wish their gender identities to be known and students who use a preferred name different to that on their student record.
However, it is the right of the individual to choose whether they wish information about their preferred pronouns and names to be shared with staff.
To support this choice, we have created a new centralised recording process for 2020-21 to ensure we are able to capture accurate data about students’ pronouns and preferred names throughout your time at Sheffield.
If you would like to specify pronouns or a preferred name to be shared with staff within your department and the Faculty, you can use this simple google form.
More information about this form and the process it supports can be found here.
We aim to answer the majority of student related enquiries from a single location. SSiD signposts you to all of the following services:
Registration; student records; tuition fees and funding; examinations and results; progress and student attendance; appeals, complaints and conduct
The University prides itself on being an inclusive, tolerant and diverse community. We encourage you to report ANY form of discrimination.
Within the Philosophy department we take Equality, Diversity and Inclusion issues (EDI) seriously. The department uses a google form, which provides the possibility to report any issues related to EDI(anonymously, if you wish).
Responses to the form go to the chair of the Equality and Diversity Committee, and are treated with high confidentiality. Read more about the form and how to submit a report here.
We want the Department of Philosophy to be an equal, diverse and inclusive community. We have a number of initiatives through which we strive for this.
Please also read through the University Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy and our Philosophy Gender Identity Policy.
