Fire Alarm
What to do if the Fire Alarm goes off!
The Fire Alarm is tested every Monday at around 2.30pm. There is no need to vacate the building unless the alarm lasts more than one minute.
In case of an alarm, otherwise, please leave the building promptly by the nearest fire exit, ensuring that the door is closed behind you if no-one is following you. The Assembly point is outside the Psychology Building (formerly the ICOSS building) at the top of the street. Exit the building from your nearest fire exit.
Fire Marshals
All staff should all now act as Fire Marshals and therefore, you must put on a hi-vis jacket if you walk past one as you are evacuating the building during a fire alarm. You should check rooms you walk past as evacuating to ensure no-one is left inside. You should only walk in the direction of your nearest emergency exit.
The hi-vis jackets are located in the following areas:
inside B01 - office / reception
outside B20 - Stephen's office
outside B27 - visiting staff / ground floor kitchen
outside B23 - meeting room
outside C01 - Jimmy's office
outside C20 - Ben's office
outside C29 - Yonatan's office
outside C32 - PGR computer room / Jules's office
The TUoS Fire Policy can be found on the central webpages here: https://students.sheffield.ac.uk/health-safety/fire#Policies
Exit the building and turn right - towards the Diamond

If you are likely to require assistance to evacuate the building in an emergency, please contact the PS team and a personal emergency evacuation plan (PEEP) will be designed for you (with the help of Safety Services, if necessary). You can find a Generic Emergency Evacuation Plan (GEEP) below for reference;
