NCEA Level 2 Design and Visual Communication

Aims

To teach students skills and understandings which provide a sound foundation in the principles of design.

Course Content

Students are taught a variety of drawing, modelling and presentation techniques related to architectural, technological and fashion design. The course requirement for students to produce and develop original design ideas, cultivates creative thinking and problem solving.

Skills

Through studying Design, students are encouraged to be innovative, creative, and to show initiative. They learn teamwork and communication skills and the importance of contributing to the community both socially and economically.

Assessment

Throughout the year students complete units of work for assessment. Although there is no external examination in this subject, some of the work the students complete is sent away in November to be assessed by external markers.

NCEA Level 2 Technology (Design and Visual Communication) - full course completion 21 credits

Exceptional circumstances may be considered on an individual basis after consultation with the HoD and the Year Level Dean
