NCEA Level 3 Photography
Aims
- To study in depth a photographic arts process through historical and contemporary models;
To develop artistic skills so that the student can demonstrate understanding by making visual responses to her chosen subject and models.
Course Content
Each student is expected to work independently, setting her own goals, planning, resourcing, preparing photographic shoots and producing a body of photographic work within the National Assessment criteria. At the end of the year the student should have a body of work to use as a portfolio for application to a tertiary institution.
Assessment
There are a variety of assessment tasks and school examinations. Externally assessed topics are examined nationally at the end of the year.
Qualification gained
Full course completion — 22 credits in NCEA Visual Arts (Photography) Level 3

Entry Requirements
NCEA Photography Level 2 is recommended.
Students who have not taken Photography in earlier years may be considered on an individual basis after consultation with the HoD and the Year Level Dean.
35mm single lens reflex camera and/or single lens reflex digital camera is recommended
