NCEA Level 2 Food and Nutrition
Aims 
The aim is for students to develop an understanding of the factors that influence the well-being of individuals and families within the home and community and of the actions people take to enhance and sustain those environments. Through the processes of selecting, preparing, cooking, and serving food, students develop their creativity and experience a sense of accomplishment. At the same time, they develop personal and interpersonal understandings and skills that contribute to well-being.
Course Content
In the context of food and nutrition, students evaluate current issues and theories of nutrition, identify and reflect on factors that influence people’s choices and behaviours, and use this knowledge to make informed decisions.
Assessment 
A variety of assessment tasks are set over the year, these will include written work that will involve a small amount practical cooking.
Qualification gained 
Full course completion — 19 credits in NCEA Level 2 Home Economics

Entry Requirements 
Level 1 Food and Nutrition is recommended. Entry without Level 1 Food and Nutrition will be in consultation with HoD, Year level Dean and Teacher of Food and Nutrition.
