NCEA Level 2 Painting

Aims

To develop good work and research habits and to gain experience in different media and techniques.

Course Content

Emphasis is placed on developing individualised painting propositions, skills and knowledge that will link with the two subjects offered in NCEA Visual Art Level 3, Painting or Photography.

The course also will allow students to analyse historical and contemporary painting art practice; to learn through established models and practice.

Assessment

There are two internally assessed standards and one external folio standard. Externally assessed topics are verified nationally at the end of the year.

Qualification Gained

Full course completion — 20 credits in NCEA Visual Art Level 2

Exceptional circumstances may be considered on an individual basis after consultation with the HoD

This course is a prerequisite for students wishing to take NCEA Level 3 Painting.
