Sharing One Skin: The Okanagan Community

The article “Sharing One Skin”: Okanagan Community by Jeanette Armstrong is talking about a tribe called the Okanagan located in the northwest that is in British Columbia. The article is talking about sustaining the tradition and culture of the Okanagan community. She sees the breakdown of her community because people are relying on their electronics more than their language. “ Sharing One Skin” means that her community is bonded through “ land, blood, and love” (Armstrong 470). Ms. Armstrong is concerned about the bonds of her community continuing.

Native American Identity

In the Horse article, the part that stuck out to me was to notice that young people need to speak our native language and what Horse is talking about is now more native kids are refusing to speak their native language and are wanting to speak English more. When the grandma says that one day we will all be like white people. Once the elderly are all gone, there isn’t going to be anyone to pass on the language or the traditional ways. There won’t be a way to keep a way of life the way the ancestors lived such as passing down stories.

Winner’s Circle Episode #2: Todd Frazier Joins!

Todd Frazier plays for the Yankees and he said that vr helped him during this time. He couldn’t go to practice. This helped him more with his pitching and batting and helped him practice more on what he needs to do for baseball. It helped him improve more in his career at a time where his team wasn’t able to practice together like usual.

How Virtual Reality Technology is Changing the Way Students are Learning

In the article the author Michael Phillips uses learning technologies to teach students about situations in life that are not accessible for all. This can include expensive, dangerous, or impossible to explore without technology. Technology creates a space for students to understand how and what they learn. PowerPoints let students give a visual of how much research they did. He explains that virtual reality is a tool for students to get a visual of places that they could never go to in real life. Due to virtual reality creators import certain areas of the world to get a vision of what it looks like. Students can do this in digital representations of the user or digital avatars.

In my perspective virtual reality can change the world by having online classes and being able to create PowerPoints. Students that use virtual reality are able to create avatars or features for classes to communicate more frequently with students with more one on one time. In the classroom research is showing that technology is starting to provide experience of where and when these research fits into reality.

VR Applications: 21 Industries already using Virtual Reality

When putting on the Vr headset it is usually for playing games but there are many uses for it, not just gaming and having fun with it, there are different communities that use VR such as the military, medical, fashion, and different uses for the headset. The military uses VR for different types of training. For example the training is used to help soldiers try to come up with plans to get out of situations like when they're in firefights and how they would get out of situations. Medical students use VR to help train residents, assist surgeons in planning and help with upcoming surgeries and operations. It puts them into a virtual operating room with a virtual patient. Vr can help with sports like baseball. People created special apps for people who play baseball. This app helps with eye coronation. But the Vr headset is an amazing piece of technology, different parts of the world are starting to look at VR, fashion designers and artists make a lot of digital art.
