Students learn the basics of music composition fundamental to all styles of western music, from classical and jazz to rock, pop, hip hop, electronic music, and beyond. As such, students will be completing a basic level of theory, history and orchestration to produce their own compositions and productions. Using a digital media platform, students will create and record music. This is a creative arts course, so interested students must be motivated to expand their knowledge of music through focused effort, experimentation and inquiry. No prior musical knowledge is necessary but it is encouraged.
