Contemporary Music is open to any student in Grades 11 and 12 who is currently enrolled in another ensemble but are looking for an enhanced experience. Students in this course will work on techniques, and musical skills directly related to their genre of choice. This will involve solo and ensemble work. This course will receive the same positive incentives as all other music ensembles including tours. In this course, students will take a deeper dive into:

• musical elements and theory

• techniques, vocabulary, technologies relevant to a particular genre

• creative processes

• a variety of musical styles, genre and traditions

• artists from a variety of genres and movements

• traditional and contemporary First Peoples worldviews as communicated through music.
