satisfies up to 2 of 4 required Grade 12 required courses
Students are encouraged to prepare for life after secondary school through participation in a Career Program during Grades 11 and 12. Students may choose from many different work experience options that cover a wide area of career possibilities. Placements in the community will depend on an employer's willingness/ability to support a student for part of the day.
Students who wish to take work experience need to sign up for two or four blocks per semester. Placements arranged through the school are typically unpaid. WorksafeBC coverage is provided for unpaid placements. Students wishing to receive credit for paid employment during the school day will need to meet with the career programs office to ensure all the course criteria is satisfied.
This course may be taken outside the school timetable or in the summer months.
There are an additional 8 credits (IDS2A & IDS2B) available for those who wish to further their work experience opportunities.
