BC First Peoples 12

This course aims to enable learners to understand and respect the traditions, values and beliefs of First Nations peoples within historical, contemporary, and future contexts. Students will:

• examine the traditional place names and territories in British Columbia

• examine the history of First Peoples in BC

• examine First Peoples resistance to colonialism and the revitalization of culture

• explore the art, stories, and cultures of First Peoples in British Columbia

• examine the goals of reconciliation and the Universal Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples
