satisfies Sciences 11/12 graduation requirement
Environmental Science is the interdisciplinary study of how the natural world works and our human impact on it. Environmental Science 11 focuses on local ecosystems and issues and introduces the basics of population ecology. We will incorporate multiple field trips to explore our local ecosystems, including our estuary and forests, looking at conservation, restoration and sustainable human uses. We will also focus on many current environmental issues, including the climate emergency and our overuse of plastic, looking not just at the problems, but working towards real-life local solutions and how we can implement them in our daily life. This course is fully accepted as a Grade 11 science option at all major BC universities.Â
