September 15 -September 20, 2025
Highland Ram Family,
A huge thank you to our Highland Student Leadership team and advisors for an amazing Homecoming week! It was filled with great events and tons of school spirit. It was a great week wrapped up with a win over Lake City in our Homecoming Football game, a visit from the Highland Alumni Class of 1985 and the best Homecoming Dance we've ever had. The 1985 Highland State Championship Football team was honored at the game and members of the 1985 Trouveres sang the National Anthem. It was awesome to be able to recognize the Class of 1985 of Highland Alumni and to have them participate in such a fun filled week. Here is a video provided by Carson Keller, Highland Alumni and former Ram Man, of some of the week...

SOPHOMORE PSAT TEST DAY OCTOBER 15th, VIRTUAL DAY FOR FRESHMAN, JUNIORS, & SENIORS

Juniors who are interested can pay for and take the exam. See the information below for interested Juniors.
Please contact Mrs. Santos-Smith with any questions.
PSAT Information for Juniors Who Are Interested:
Deadline to sign up and pay for exam: Friday, October 3, 2025.
Test date: Wednesday, October 15, 2025
What is the PSAT? Why would I take this exam?
The Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT) is given every October as an opportunity to become familiar with the content and process for the SAT. When testing results are utilized, they provide students feedback on their academic strengths and weaknesses necessary for college study as well as opportunities to explore career interests and access college searches.
Juniors are highly encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity to take the PSAT test in order to provide them with National Merit Scholarship opportunities as well as additional preparation for the SAT college entrance exam that the juniors will take in April. This year both the PSAT and the SAT will be administered digitally.
How Do I sign-up to take the PSAT?
Please visit the Counseling Center Junior Google Classroom (etkszsu) and fill out the Junior PSAT Registration Google form.
How will the PSAT be paid for?
The cost of the PSAT is $18.00 and we will be using students’ Advanced Opportunities money to pay for the exam. The funds will be requested by our College and Career Advisors so students do not have to request funds themselves.

ATTENDANCE
Here is a short review of Highland's Attendance Procedures.
Excused Absences include:
Medical appointments (must provide a note from the Doctor). A parent/guardian has 3 days to provide medical documentation to the school following a medical visit in order to verify the absence, otherwise the absence will remain coded as “absent.”
Legal appointments (must provide documentation).
Virtual present (must have completed the process and been approved by administration).
School excused (a school directed and sponsored activity).
Student Absences at the Secondary Level
On a student's 6th unexcused absence they will receive their 1st truancy. At least once a week we run an attendance report and if a student has an additional absence since their last truancy, they will be issued another truancy. If a student continues to be absent, on their 4th truancy the following happens:
If the student is 15 years old or younger, they will be referred to the school resource officer for a citation and assigned a court date.
If the student is 16 years old or older, they will lose credit and be dropped from the class(es) in which they have 8 or more absences.
Every 5th tardy a student has in a class changes to an absence and a truancy.Â
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Student attendance is essential for student success in school. However, we do understand that there are sometimes reasons a student cannot attend in person, but is still able to work virtually. This form is not a request for approval for long-term online work, but it is available to students who may need to miss some school days for personal reasons. This is only available to students who do not have any truancies and have a C or better in all classes. The form must be completed and approval granted from teachers and school administration prior to the days requested. Highland School Administration will email you with the decision regarding approval.
