This Wednesday April 9th, the Juniors will be taking the SAT's at Highland.Â
To ensure that things run on time and smoothly they need to be HHS with a fully charged chromebook and checked into their assigned rooms by 8:30am. Room assignments are currently posted outside of the counseling center. For students interested in taking a practice test there are instructions on how to access it posted to their counseling center google classroom.Â
Next Week, Wednesday April 16th, the Juniors will be taking the ISAT's at Highland.
The ISATs are a graduation requirement. Â
Students need to bring their charged chromebook with them and need to be at school ON TIME that morning. Â
The English ISAT requires wired headphones (bluetooth are not allowed). If students have their own, they are encouraged to bring them. If they don't, headphones will be provided for them. Â
Some students will need all day to complete the ISATs. Â
There will be a shorter than normal lunch break for students that day. Please make sure your student has something to eat quickly during that time if they normally leave school during lunch. Â
Students who have not completed testing will need to stay at school during lunch time that day. Â If your student utilizes school lunch there will be cold lunches provided.Â
Once students have completed all required ISATs they will be allowed to leave school. Â
On April 9th & 16th all Freshman, Sophomore's, and Seniors will stay home for a virtual day.Â

Scholarships – Don’t Procrastinate !
The timeframe to apply for scholarships is quickly shrinking. The best and easiest scholarship money is found at the colleges / programs to which you’ve been accepted. For instance, go on to the BOSS (the Bengal Online Scholarship System) at Idaho State, Scholarship Universe at the University of Idaho, or Boise State’s Academic Works. In addition, the Senior Google Classroom has an array of scholarships that have come to our attention from many different organizations. Seniors should ask their families if there are scholarships for the children of employees, inquire at your bank, through your insurance company, or where students themselves work (Starbucks, McDonalds, etc.). Deadlines are surely approaching, so focus a couple of hours every day for the next two or three weeks on scholarship applications.
Service Academies Information Session, Saturday, April 12th
Students and families of first-years, sophomores, and juniors, the annual information session for students who might be interested in applying to any of the service academies – Annapolis, West Point, the Air Force Academy, or the Merchant Marine Academy – is Saturday, April 12th, from 10 am to noon, in Boise (Gowen Field, Readiness Bldg # 440, Boise 83642). An RSVP is required for the Boise session. Please call Amy Sorenson (208-523-6701) to confirm you will attend.Â
Do You Need an ALEKS Test?
Students, have you put a dual-credit math or science class into your academic planner for next year that has an ALEKS score as a prerequisite? ALEKS is a math assessment taken online. Your math teachers, counselors, and CCAs are preparing to offer ALEKS tests at the end of April, but we don’t want any student to be caught by surprise. Students will have the opportunity to sit for the test and then take one re-test to qualify for dual credit. Ask your counselor or math teacher for best advice in preparing for the ALEKS assessment or stop by the CCAs with any questions.
Tomorrow is the start of April – no joke! From here on out, the days and weeks will zip by, so strap in and be ready. This newsletter has vital information and reminders . . . because we all need reminders . . . or nudges . . . or details . . . or guidance. Be careful out there.
Your friendly neighborhood CCAs,
Alice Rowe
