EXTRACURRICULARS'
Congratulations to all of our winter athletics and activities that finished out their seasons this last weekend. Everyone is done except Speech & Debate who are preparing for their state competitions coming up. There is no time wasted as Spring Athletics and Activities are underway. Please check the Highland Athletics & Activities Calendar to keep up-to-date on game times, etc, especially as the unpredictable spring weather can have an impact. Spring Athletics=Baseball, Softball, Tennis, and Track & Field are all practicing this week.Â
Highland Cheer Team State Champs, State Academic Champs, & National Champs!
Congratulations to Highland Cheer who are state champions! We are so proud of our cheer team and recognize their amazing accomplishments this season. National champs, academic state champs, and now finishing it off as state champions. What an amazing year! We are so proud of each cheerleader and their awesome coaches! Great job Highland Cheer!

Highland Band
Congratulations to Highland Band who had 28 students and 2 alternates qualify for state at the District Solo and Ensemble Competition last Monday.Â

Highland Boys Basketball
Great job Highland Boys Basketball finishing out their season last week!Â
Highland Drama
Only 2 days left to come watch Highland Drama’s musical production of Alice By Heart. The acting and singing are amazing! It is a great show! The last 2 performances are tonight and tomorrow at 7pm. Tickets are 7$ for students with their ID and $10 for General admission.
Also, Highland Drama is holding Auditions for another musical, Seussical the Musical, this week starting Wednesday and going through Friday. Wednesday is an acting day, Thursday is choreography, and Friday is Singing. Everyone who auditions will be a part of the show. Visit Director Van Noy for more details about each day in room E52.
Key Club Spring Blood Drive
Key Club is sponsoring a Blood Drive at Highland on Tuesday, March 11. Students who are 16 and older can donate. 16-year-olds need to fill out a form with parent permission. Students who donate will receive a $10 gift card by email! See Ms. Frasure in room B67 to sign up or to get a permission slip.Â

HIGHLAND MAKE-A-WISH: $10,000 GOAL
Ryanne, an optimistic and upbeat senior who loves to dance and cheer, plans to graduate with a 4.0 and try out for a nationally ranked college dance team. Due to a serious brain tumor, her senior year has been turned upside down as she now has to balance her plans for graduating on time with the difficulty of undergoing regular treatment. Ryanne’ s wish is to go to Hawaii with her sister for some relaxing time in the sun.Â
Make-A-Wish week is March 17-20. We have several activities during the week. Currently, there are sign up sheets in room B71 if you would like to participate in the March Madness 3-on-3 basketball tournament. Each team can have 3-4 players. Deadline to sign up is March 13. If we do not have enough teams we will have to cancel. All games are being played during the lunch hour. Also, sign ups for those wishing to audition for Highland Idol are in room B71. Auditions will take place at lunch March 11-14. Last day to sign up is March 6 (this Thursday). Also, Shirts and Bracelets are now on sale in the Bursar’s office, Room B68, B70, and B71. Shirts are $10 and bracelets are $2. You can also check out the Pura Vida bracelets for $10 in Room B71.
In order to help Ryanne fulfill her dream, our current fundraising efforts include selling raffle tickets for baskets full of amazing things. There are 12 baskets valued from $115-$835!!! Tickets are ONLY $1 each. So come check out the baskets and grab a Make-A-Wish shirt while you are in Room B71! Shirts are $10 each. All proceeds go to Make-A-Wish and our goal is $10,000!

COLLEGE & CAREER ADVISORS
Univ of Idaho Tribal Student Affairs Rep Here, Wed., March 5th
Junior and Senior Native American Students, our recruitment specialist for the University of Idaho Tribal Nations Student Affairs office will be HERE on Wed., March 5th, from 9:45 am until lunch in the CCA area. He will have information about services, scholarships, and programs that the U of I has for Native students. You will need teacher permission to have time with him.
Tech Expo at ISU for All Students – Thurs., March 6th
ISU’s Tech Expo is the opportunity for Highland students to learn more about Idaho State’s College of Technology and their many – fabulous – programs. On Thursday, March 6th (next week!), we will take students to the Tech Expo at the ICCU Dome on ISU’s campus. The event is hand-on, engaging, and inspiring. Highland will take one bus to the event (50 students) for an hour. There are still spots available, but you have to sign up with the CCAs to join us and for your absence from school for that time period to be excused. Higher Ed + Morning for Juniors, Next Wed., March 12th
Every spring, Highland invites colleges, universities, and training programs, as well as military representatives, the Department of Labor, local experts on apprenticeships, financial aid and scholarships, and more to school to get the wheels of our junior students turning. It’s called Higher Ed + Morning. Juniors will choose three sessions from an array of offerings (ten colleges / training programs) plus professional presentations. It will take place during the first and second hours of Wednesday, March 12th and all junior students with classes at Highland in the morning are expected to participate. The time to be thinking about the future is . . . now!
Seniors: ISU Academic Signing Event, Wednesday, March 19th
If you are a senior, accepted to Idaho State University, and awarded a grid scholarship upon your acceptance, we want to honor that achievement with an Academic Signing event on Wednesday, March 19th. During the 1st hour of classes, we will gather in the library, have you sign a certificate of achievement, take your photo and applaud, and ply you with donuts, cheers, and morning beverages. Families and fans are also invited. Please mark your calendars and plan to attend.Â

Welcome to Trimester 3! In honor of the occasion, mother nature thought she should snow on us today. Jeesh. But look forward to the bulbs sprouting, the birds chirping, and warmer, longer days. Graduation is right around the corner.

Herff Jones is the company we partner with to provide Caps & Gowns to our graduates. Students will be able to keep their caps, but gowns will be turned in after graduation.
