COLLEGE & CAREER ADVISORS
Heads Up, Seniors! Launch Grant Offers – DEADLINE is Jan. 24th
Seniors, if you applied for a Launch grant on Scholarship Idaho, you may have received an email over the holiday break asking you to accept or decline your contingent Launch grant offer. Have you checked your personal email since the break? Please look to see if you got such an email and, if so, take action. Students often have questions: What if I want to pursue a different major? What if I want to go out of state, but I’m not sure. What if I am going on a mission? What if I do nothing? Please visit the CCAs with these and other questions. The January 24th deadline is a hard one. Also, remember that students need to complete the four modules on the Career Pathway Plan (on the Next Steps website) before your Launch monies will be released. Don’t procrastinate in getting those modules done. The Launch grant is a great financial opportunity and we don’t want anyone to miss out. If you are not going to college or training in the state of Idaho, please please decline the offer, so the money can go back into the pot for someone else.
Fearless Future Scholarship for Highland Students Only !Â
We are pleased to announce the Fearless Future Scholarship that provides a $1,000 scholarship just for Highland students, and which can be used for training, college, career technical education. All that’s required is a 60-second video uploaded to the Senior Google classroom (as an assignment) that answers two questions found in the assignment. Easy! Deadline is March 17th. Go to the Fearless Future Scholarship assignment in the Senior Google classroom and start creating. If you have any questions, stop by and ask the CCAs in C-36.
Lewis Clark State College Here Friday, January 24th
We are very fortunate to have college admissions personnel come TO us. On Friday, January 24th, Dylon from Lewis Clark State College will be here at school starting at 10 am in the CCA area. LCSC is a gem of a state school: it has the lowest tuition cost in the state of Idaho, a huge array of academic programs, and lots of extra-curriculars. If you have questions about next steps, want to know about academic programs or extracurriculars, this is a great opportunity. Please mark your calendars, but you have to have teacher permission to visit with Dylon.
Friendly Reminder: 1) FSA ID, 2) FAFSA
Seniors and Families of Seniors ! ! ! ! The CCAs strongly suggest that you complete and submit a FAFSA. Some scholarships and Financial Aid offices will ask it of you if you plan to pursue college or career technical education. It is not hard to do, but you must have an FSA ID first, let that ID percolate up in the ether for a few days, and then complete your FAFSA. If doing the FAFSA could mean more institutional or scholarship money, then let’s get it done. Just stop by the CCAs with any questions or to get started (the student will need to have his or her Social Security number).
It’s already mid-January?! Time is trippy, but don’t let it slip away from you and the many opportunities out there.
Your friendly neighborhood CCAs,
Alice Rowe
