CALENDARS
These calendars are continually updated and provide all of the important academic and athletic/activities dates for the school year. Please look at them regularly for questions about calendar items.Â
November 18-November 23, 2024
Highland Parent, Student, and Ram Supporter,
We are so proud of the amazing job our students did in 1st trimester. Fall sports and activities competed strong in district and in the state. It was a great start to the school year. We are excited to continue into 2nd trimester and winter sports and activities.
Please log into Infinite Campus to see your Highland High School student's trimester 1 term grades and any outstanding fees. Report cards will not be mailed home however, if you require a hard copy you can print a copy from the documents tab on the home page of Infinite Campus. All fee payments should be made directly to the Bursar.
If you are not familiar with Infinite Campus and the Parent Portal or do not have your own account please contact our registrar, Mrs. Whitehead, the Registrar to get it set up. The Pocatello/Chubbuck School District is committed to providing parents with the information that they need to help their students be successful. Procedures are in place to give parents access to attendance, grades and assignments, schedules and calendars, and other school and district wide information. Parents may establish an account in the Parent Portal and will be able to access up-to-date, key information about all the students in their family. Â
We did so great with attendance 1st Trimester. Our student attendance is looking great! Please continue to make attendance a priority. Remember, Every Day Matters.Â
Second Trimester begins on Monday 11/18/24. Thanksgiving Break starts Saturday 11/23/24 and goes through Sunday 12/1/24. We are back in school on Monday 12/2/24. Winter Break begins Saturday 12/21/24 and goes through Sunday 1/5/25. We are back in school after winter break on Monday 1/6/25. Â
As winter approaches, please speak with your student about driving safe while on school property. Students who are identified spinning cookies or donuts in the student parking lot will lose the privilege to park on Highland property for the school year. Reckless driving puts everyone in danger. Thank you for your support. Â

New Trimester – Any Dual Credit?
Just a friendly reminder that if you / your student will be taking a new dual credit class this trimester (through Idaho State, College of Southern Idaho, or College of Western Idaho), there are parts of dual enrolling that will ask families to give the OK by text or email, permission forms for the Advanced Opportunity program needs a family signature, students will need to confirm their enrollment and thus will need to have full access to their personal email at school, those kind of things.
Dual enrollment is a great opportunity, but also asks responsibility and maturity of our students – which is good. Some dual credit math and science classes have a prerequisite math or ALEKS score. Your student will know all this, but in the excitement of the new trimester and the approach of the holidays, some of the fine points might be forgotten. Ask the CCAs with any questions.
Need That FSA ID; Hoping FAFSA Opens
The FSA (standing for Federal Student Aid) ID is a required first step before filling out and completing the FAFSA (the instrument by which students become eligible for scholarships and financial aid).Â
If you / your student missed FSA ID Night, not to worry: please have the student make note of his / her Social Security # and have them stop by the CCAs. We can walk them through the FSA ID creation process and then they will coach a parent / guardian through it (if the parent / guardian doesn’t already have an FSA ID). The FSA ID has to percolate in the ether for 2 to 3 days before it can be used to log in to the FAFSA.
As for the FAFSA, we are hopeful that it will open, as announced, on December 1st. If it does open, we are ready to jump into it and will have a FAFSA Night for students and families in December and another in January. At any rate, watch this newsletter. If the FAFSA opens before we leave for the holiday break, it will be announced here, students will hear about it in the daily announcements, and posters / flyers will be all over school when we announce the first FAFSA Night.Â
Fingers crossed.
As always, the CCAs are here and ready to help with college applications, state-sponsored scholarship programs, resume building, training opportunities, and more. Call on us.
