TRIMESTER 1 2024-25
CALENDARS
These calendars are continually updated and provide all of the important academic and athletic/activities dates for the school year. Please look at them regularly for questions about calendar items.Â
November 4-November 9, 2024
Highland Parent, Student, and Ram Supporter,
Students do not have school on Tuesday November 5th, Election Day. Teachers will be participating in professional development this day. Reminder to get out and vote!
After a lot of work our gym is now ready for use for both Physical Education classes and winter extracurriculars and the hallway where a pipe was broken is in the process of being opened back up for use. Thank you to everyone who has worked so hard to make this happen so quickly.
On Veteran's Day, Monday 11/11/24, at Highland we will be recognizing our Veterans with a Flag Ceremony and 21 Gun Salute in the morning followed by a video recognizing and honoring Veterans that students watch in their 1st period class. We will follow our normal bell schedule. We love and we are so grateful for those that have sacrificed everything for our freedoms and we are pleased to honor and celebrate our Veterans on this day. Â
Trimester 1 is coming to a close quickly. Finals will take place next Tuesday, 11/12 and Wednesday 11/13. Students do not have school on Thursday 11/14 for record day and students do not have school on Friday 11/15 either, it is a teacher work day.Â
This is a warning that there is a scam going around claiming to be associated with Highland High School Extracurriculars and asking for money donations. Please do not give money to any organization without confirming it with school administration or with the coach, director, or student that the scam is claiming to represent. We have had several people lose money to this scam.Â
SENIORS/GRADUATES FSA ID/FAFSA NIGHT
Highland Seniors/Graduates. Wednesday, 11/6/24, at 6pm is FSA ID Night at the Highland Media Center. It is extremely important to either attend or start the process for FSA ID/FAFSA.Â
FAFSA stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid, which is completed and submitted to help students qualify for federal grants and loans, and is often required for all kinds of scholarships, including the state of Idaho academic scholarships. We strongly encourage students and families to complete and submit the FAFSA early (early-ish) in the senior year. The FAFSA will not open until December, but a critical first step is creation of the FSA ID.Â
Wednesday, Nov. 6th, we will get guidance and information from experts on college financial aid, college scholarships, and military options to obtain education and training. Pizza and snacks will be served. Please join us on November 6th: we will be in Highland’s library from 6 to 8 pm that night. See attached flyer with things to bring / how to prepare.

Apply Idaho Day – Hundreds Applied
Last Wednesday, October 16th, we followed up a very successful Portneuf Valley College / Life Fair with a very successful Apply Idaho Day. According to a database maintained by the state of Idaho, 62 percent of Highland’s seniors have already completed Apply Idaho – which equates to more than 200 students. Impressive! We still have to identify the students who don’t have Government this trimester or who were absent that day, but we are well begun to have students apply to college or career-technical training / education. And we likewise encouraged a couple of hundred students to complete Scholarship Idaho (but, alas, no data for that platform yet). Well done, students.
