The subject of my creation was my dog named Ellie. The work was made with scratch board and I used different tools to achieve the effect of fur. I chose to create this specific artwork because I felt that it would be a cool concept to make a scratch image of my dog since I haven’t done any art based on her yet this year.
I used informal balance by making sure that the average amount of black negative space was semi accurate and that it matched the original picture. My project evolved from an image of only the dog to an completed scratchboard drawing.
The meaning behind the artwork is to create a clean looking piece of artwork that looks nice and has detail. My project relates to my life because it is my dog that is in the drawing. I think my project could be stronger if I got rid of some of the lines.
