The subject was the shoes since the whole idea was that we were to draw one shoe from 3 different angles and use perspective to make the shoe look like a 3D shape. The work was made using a pencil and paper and the design was similar to a blind contour drawing in the thought that we were not filling the empty white space and that we were using them white. I chose to create this artwork and draw this specific shoe because I thought that this shoe would be a cool shoe to draw because it has all of the lines in the soul and has the heel piece that has the little circles or holes in it that add another difficult aspect to draw.
The work uses rules of thirds because if you divide the paper into thirds then the thirds will all have a shoe in it since there are 3 shoes and three different pieces that would each have a shoe in it. My project evolved from a not so good shoe drawing which is on the back to a little bit better drawing that was the side profile view but then the aerial and frontal view I spent more time on and personally think that those two had a better outcome compared to the first two were I was getting a feel for my perspective of the shoe drawing.
The meaning behind the artwork for me was to create work that I spent time on and put more effort into drawing these three shoes then the majority of my projects before that I had later decided to redo because I hadn’t put my best effort into it. My project relates to my life because these are shoes that I wear everyday and that I try to keep clean because at the time that I am writing this but maybe in a few months or towards the end of the year when I go back through my portfolio I remember that those are my old shoes or the beat up pair that I don’t wear as much anymore. I think my artwork could be better if I redid the side view since that was the one I did the worst on when apparently it was the easiest for some other kids because they didn't have to deal with depth but mostly just the profile of the shoe.
