Linoleum Prints

The subject of my creation is the lake where my camp that has been in the family for many generations is located. The work was made using a linoleum board which I carved out to create a print design. I chose to create this specific artwork because I have grown up through the summers here.

I used informal balance to make sure that my print wasn't a perfect mirror image. My project evolved from a block of linoleum to being shaped and carved to where it is a mirror image of the lake that I did on accident.

The meaning behind my artwork is to add a subject of my life that I haven’t used before in my art themes. My project relates to my life because I have grown up here during the summers my entire life. I think my artwork could be stronger if I had known that when we were making the prints that the prints would be flipped and that the lake would be flipped as well.
